yes, the other poll is quite a runaway, as it should be...but lets put all the cards on the table, right now, right here....if the three ships from each show, TNG-DS9-VOY, were to all duke it out, winner takes all, with equally matched Crews, which ship wins...

In essense...which Modern Star Trek TV show had the most kick ass ship...TNG or DS9 or Voyager (sorry, Enterprise fans..ships used as Fodder don't count)...

have to be the defiant she's more manuverable then the galaxy, was able to turn with the dominion fighters.and possibly more armoured then voyager.
defiant has quantum torpedos which apparently are supposed to be more powerful then a photon like the other two have.

I'm with you..it was built to fight the Borg and had all that fire powers...I think it takes down both the D and the Voyager...

not to mention the Major advantage it had THE SISKO in command for a lot of the time:cool:

I'd go with the Enterprise-D.

The one time we saw the Defiant up against another Federation starship, it was only barely holding its own against an Excelsior-class ship. I think that attacking the Enterprise-D would be biting off more than it could chew.

Voyager was more of an interceptor than a battleship. Janeway rarely tangled with larger ships. When she did, she usually had some ace up her sleeve.

The Defiant is a bad mutha for sure, but she fought the modified Lakota to a stalemate. The only reason why neither ship wasn't in worse condition was because both ships refused to use quantum torpedoes. On the other hand, any ship with a phaser array never seems to miss, and for all its dodging, the Defiant was hit each and every time by the Lakota, which isn't armed with arrays.

Still, an Excelsior, no matter how souped up it is, is no match for a Galaxy. Yes, I realize it's ABC logic and ABC logic tends to be faulty, but that's all I've got for this thread.

Though, under any other circumstances, I'd still pick the Defiant, sweet little weapon of mass destruction that she is. Pew pew pew!!

The poll question and the thread question don't match up. The Defiant is the most kick ass ship in the fleet (and the option I chose), but the Enterprise would win in a battle. I just ran through the series again (finished just a couple of hours ago) and during one episode of DS9 it is heavily implied, if not stated directly, that the Defiant is no match for a Galaxy class ship.

Still, given a choice between Picard and any of the Defiant captains, I'd wager on the Defiant any day. If Riker's finally gotten rid of the old man, I'd spend the money on popcorn instead. :)

The Defiant. It would team up with Voyager to destroy the larger Galaxy and then turn on Voyager.

Nah, I think the reason Lakota beat up Defiant so bad was because the Defiant wasn't trying too hard. Defiant wins. After Wolf 359, Defiant was built because Starfleet needed a class of ship to fight the Borg. They already had Galaxys, so clearly the Corps didn't think Galaxy was as good for fighting as Defiant. Voyager wasn't outfitted with anything but a bunch of photon torps, a couple of tricobalts (which Defiant can just dodge), and phasers. Clearly, Defiant beats Voyager with quantum torps.

Defiant wins.

And Batman only needs to have time to prepare if he's going against Chuck Norris. Supes is a pansy.

I think you’re missing the point. The defiant might be a warship but that doesn’t say anything about its combat performance, just about it’s performance when compared to its cost. It’s no problem that it takes 3 defiant to take out an Galaxy if can build 5 of them with the same resources. Compare the defiant with the Russian T-34 and the galaxies with German tiger tanks in WW2.

Well it was stated that part of the problem was that the Lakota had upgraded weapons. Certainly the Defiant, even if it was trying not to damage the Lakota, would have tried to dodge their weapons, but it couldn't. For this poll to work, one would have to assume that the Galaxy class had upgraded weapons (if a 100 year-old Excelsior class did, it would make sense that they did in the Dominion War as well).

While I do think that the fact that Worf didn't want to destroy the Lakota was a contributing factor, that doesn't necessarily mean that it could destroy the much more powerful Galaxy class.

I corrected it for you :)

Totaly agree with you :bolian:

And Borg didnt ran from Voyager, Voyager was runing from Borg :)
But we cant forget the last episode where Voyager gets transphasic torpedoes and ablative hull armor, so with that technology Voyager is the strongest and the best starship in Federation and in universe...but again there is temporal prime directive so I think that they didnt use that after
