Defiant vs. Enterprise-E (Sorry, I'm new here)

infinix

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
This has probably been discussed to death, but I was wondering...

Sisko and his entire crew on the Defiant, even Worf.

Picard and his entire crew on the E-E, even Worf (yes, duplicate Worf)

They fight it out believing each other is controlled by the Borg. Who'd win?

Whoever has more brains and guts.... Nothing is certain and nobody knows everything...so whoever comes up with the more brilliant strategies and takes the most calculating risks will come out victorious. That's what it boils down to in war and on the battlefields. Alexander The Great was gravely outnumbered against the more technologically advanced Persian army, which numbered in the millions. But because of quick thinking and his willingness to go to the grave along with his soldiers, he led the Macedonian calvaries against the Persians and came out victorious.

On a side note: he looked like a teenage boy than a man, but he commanded respect (because of his bravery and brutalities) and came out victorious. So who do you think would in a fight...a Klingon vs Romulan, or Vulcan?

Assuming TNG Worf is on the Enterprise and DS9 Worf is on the Defiant, DS9 Worf would destroy TNG Worf to show how much stronger DS9 Worf was. Worf would demonstrate The Worf Effect on Worf.

Which one is Batman on board, and does he have time to prepare?

Ah screw it, Chuck Norris will roll flip a coin and decide which one he'll destroy and which one he'll let live.

My vote would be for Enterprise-E although the Defiant would be really close. The Enterprise is a stronger ship and its weapons are more powerful.

Assuming there is no cloak being used......Sisko could be a match for Picard tactically, but in the end, it would be Enterprise E because it has technology based on, and probably improve upon the Defiant's technology, and a lot more firepower.

With a cloak, Defiant takes out E,before she knows what hit her.

Yeah the cloak is one thing going for the Definat that would totally outmatch the Enterprise.

I never understood the circumvention of the Treaty of Algernon. If everyone has all the same technologies it gets mighty old.

But as to cloak, I have no doubts that between Geordi and Data it wouldn't be a huge factor. So that leaves it up to armament and armor. And a battleship always beats a tin can.

We don't need the cloak on The Defiant! :klingon: We can use well, coordinated, good, guerrilla tactics against a superior firepower and technologies. Just like they did in Vietnam! [laugh]

If they were actively looking for Defiant...maybe Data and Geordi could detect it. Data and Geordi could detect Warbirds under cloak due to phase variations or whatever, and cloaks were designed for Romulan ships, not Federation ones. So it may be easier to find Defiant than a Warbird.

But then again, Defiant has the Chief, who is at least as good as Geordi, Dax who has 300 years of experience and is\was a scientist (depending on which Dax), and Kira's experience as a guerrilla warfare specialist. They could compensate, and gain enough of an element of surprise to fire the first, and possibly crippling, shot.

As a TNG man, I see O'Brien primarily as the guy who runs the transporters. So buying into that one has always required some suspension of disbelief.

The problem with a cloak is that you need to drop it to fire and/or raise shields. So there's a period where you're a sitting duck to worry about.

Sure, I'm sure Kira would have some fun tricks at the ready, but I don't see many of them getting past TNG Worf. And then there's always Troi's vague warnings about hostility. "I'm sensing a threat..."

But at the end of the day, I see many noble redshirts falling. :rommie:

Both ships have quantum torps so they're evenly matched there but the Defiant's pulse phasers are forward facing only so it would have to rely on strafing runs while the E has phaser banks in many locations, as well as aft torps, so it could attack and defend from any angle. Based on this, I'm gonna go with the E for the win.

Good point there, strafing runs give a defined and generally constant trajectory. Pit that against 16 phaser arrays and top-notch control systems and its not a pretty concept.

Also, the E is much larger with a bigger crew so it can afford to take more damage and casualties as it has more available replacements then the 40 crew Defiant. The E could lose a nacelle and still be effective while if the Defiant lost a nacelle it would lose a good portion of its mass and the pulse phasers are tucked around it to so they'd be lost as well.

Maybe they can create a situation, like they were under attack and made it seem like the ship has been destroyed, to lure the Ent-D into a trap while they lie in wait, cloaked. And then....! BOOM! :bolian::guffaw:

Engaging the Ent head on is unwise.... She is too powerful! WE have to create a diversion. A good commander knows not to fight a loosing a battle, or getting themselves into a tight situation. That's what Sisko and the crew would have done because The Defiant is a lot smaller.

The problem with the BOOM trap is that the E has Troi to sense life in the debris field and the suggestion of a trap. I once played a PBEM game of Trek where we fought against Defiant type ships. We decided that we could beam that special knockout gas that is always used in STNG onto the other ships once their shields were down. It was enough to knock out their bridge crews.

Anyway, I would go for the Galaxy class for firepower. The federation is used to fighting cloaked ships (especially small ones) I would guess the Galaxy has a larger amount of torpedoes on hand and could hit the Defiant easily. Hard fight, but the Galaxy would win.
