College football - Auburn University

Cycling is the best sport ever. Michael Rasmussen, Lance Armstrong, and Floyd Landis are awesome. No, I don't give a god damn if they're taking drugs or not.

Though my main loyalty is to this as a whole:

Basketball: Lakers
Baseball: Dodgers
NFL:49ers
College: USC

You're just like my roommate. In all the major sports, you like the So Cal teams except for the NFL which are the Niners. I wonder if that is a common thing down south because you guys don't have a football team.

Ok, "declaring" myself. ;)

I should probably say that my favourite sport is football (and it is football, not soccer), because it's the one I watch every week, but I honestly don't care much for the sport apart from the team I support, SK Rapid.
I still remember the first game I saw in the stadium, like it was yesterday. 04.04.1992 my cousin took my brother and me to the game against the local rival team, and the atmosphere was just incredible for me. Especially in the 88th minute when a legendary defense player, who scored only 4 goals in his 16 years with the club, scored the deciding 1:0 and enthusiasm erupted all over the stadium, with flares and other pyrotechnics being lit and stuff. I was hooked immidiately, and that hasn't changed since. I've had a season ticket in the supporters' stands for 8 years now, and I go to as many away matches as I can (which isn't much lately, but always lots of fun, regardless of the result). :)

My family is so obsessed with this team it scared me further away than i wouldve otherwise. Blah.

Sorry to hear it - and it's a shame, since la Tricolore have so much history, and meaning, and stuff, that it's hard not to respect.

(and it is football, not soccer)

Ah, but if MLS was named Major League Football, it would be MLF.

And then, since it has two countries involved, it might be Major International League Football.

M-I-L-F.

Hmm...

...nah, I'l stick with Major League Soccer!

(And besides, it is often called soccer in Ireland, too - since we have Gaelic football here as a mjaor code.)

Soccer comes from the word "Association" in Association Football. You can call it Association Football if you want (although if you just say Football, you might be referring to Rugby Football, Australian Football or American Football), but Soccer is a legitimate shortening of the name.

Who said anything about a lack of respect? I may disapprove of supporting the team, and would never support them myself but that doesnt mean i cant respect their accomplishments as a organizaton.

The only team that I truly follow is the Nashville Predators in hockey. This time tomorrow I will be at the game hoping for a victory (I have only seen one win this year of the four games that I have been to this season.)

My fiance is a huge New York Yankees fan and we got to see them play this past summer. I have to admit that it was cool being in Yankee Stadium since it will be torn down after this season.

My fiance and I also follow college football with the University of Tennessee Volunteers. She has gone to a game in the past but I have not. I want to soon.

I also have never been to a Tennessee Titans game and would like to. I was supposed to have went to a Memphis Grizzlies game on March 8 for a buddy's birthday but his mother got sick and we had to cancel the get-together so maybe one day.

my father decided not to despair about only have a girl child but instead shared his love of sports with me. so i did girl stuff with my mom but fished and watched sports with my dad.
football and especially nfl football has been my long favorite since i was a kid back in the 60's.
for ages i was primarily a dolphin fan but followed several teams.
about the time shula was thrown aside i started being less so and later with the arrival of the oilers now titans i shifted most of my loyalties to them.
interestingly enough the oilers were one of the teams i followed so i already had a sense of the teams history ect.

Football's my game, and I'm a devoted fan of F.C. Copenhagen - one of the major teams in the capital of Denmark.

People who've never attended a match live doesn't understand the adrenalin and just utter joy involved. 20.000 fans singing the same song trying to undermine the fans of the visiting team - that has to be experienced.

It can get really bad sometimes though, so much so that I actually turn off my phone the day after a horrible match, just to avoid having to listen to my so-called friends who support other teams. I've also been known to stay clear of newspapers and sportsnews on tv, just to avoid the shame.

God I hate it when they lose.. :(

I go on at least 4 "aways" per season ("Away" here meaning you and a couple of thousand other fans of your team going either across country or abroad to watch a match! Great stuff, 30 guys on a bus all hammered at the time of arrival.)

In American football I've been a fan of Tampa Bay ever since I saw that über cool pirate ship they keep around. I mean, come on, it's got cannons.. Don't get much cooler than that! :guffaw:

Otherwise I follow handball http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_handball where Denmark just snatched the European Championship. Soooo effing great to watch!

That lame ass Pirate ship is the stupidest idea in Pro Football history.

PS: Awesome pictures! That looks like a great time.

:techman:

Okay 1001001 (S.O.S., but I digress into RUSH, one of the greatest bands...)

AHEM!
I love American Football and the Denver Broncos were my team as long as the great John Elway was the quarterback.

Nowadays I go for either Tampa Bay Bucs or Jacksonville Jaguars. (Yeah, the pirate ship sucks, scares the shit out of me everytime that damn cannon goes off)

As for a funny story... back in the day, one of the several times Denver beat Cleveland in the finals, right after the game (yes we were slightly intoxicated:p) I egged my husband on to call a random sports bar in Cleveland. He did. First the operator thought he was crazy.
"Operator, just connect me with any sports bar," my husband slurred. When he was connected he told the bartender, "let me talk to your most avid Browns fan." The bartender didn't care, he had obviously talked to drunks before, you see, so he handed the phone over to some poor slob. This poor hapless Browns fan gets on the phone and gruffly says "yeah?" ----his team had just been slaughtered, hehe.
My husband says, "HOW 'BOUT THOSE BRONCOS."
I guess the guy said "I'm gonna come through this phone and kick your ass."
Hehheh, good times.

As for other sports, love Basketball. My team was the Lakers when Shaq was there, now it's Miami. (hows about that 1001001? *smooch*)

I mostly follow the NFL. I'm a diehard fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and probably will be until this world ends.

I follow college football too, and since my father was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, he's a diehard UVA fan, and by extension I am also, but to a lesser degree (Go Hoos!).

I also follow March Madness too.
