As I said, it's a mileage will vary situation. Garak is treated too well for such a despicable character.
You mean the Federation treated him according to their values?

I don't blame you at all. I apologize if it came across as blame towards you. What I meant to say is I don't approve of the clandestine organizations and their nefarious actions. Garak he used his skills deceiving Sisko and ensuring the survival of the Alpha Quadrant.
If you don't like the character, that's fine but don't blame me due to your distaste.
With trust that is unearned and slapped down just as easily yet constantly rewarded with that trust. I guess broken trust is easily repaired in space future. You mean the Federation treated him according to their values?
I'm pretty sure Sloan and his party saying they were from Internal Affairs beamed aboard DS9. The DS9 regulars would have been aware if they were transported off the station.
Georgiou is a monster; Garak is ok though.
Which does not make sense to me. A monster is a monster. "Are you not entertained?" Is not my standard.Garak is absolutely a monster, I don’t think anyone has said otherwise. The reason Garak is okay is because, simply put, he is just the more entertaining character.

I watch very few things. That is the whole reason entertainment exists. I mean, how can you watch pretty much anything if you’re not interested in how others experience the world?
Space Hitler at least had an excuse off being from a separate timeline and completely different moral system.
Yeah, Georgiou was indoctrinated into being what she was. We know she wasn't like that as a child before the competition.
Garak is not good in the sense of moral and a great guy. But he is an excellent character for a drama.I will next time I see them.
Garak is not a good character, one I would omit in a heartbeat, next to Q, Trelane, Quark and Okona.
The very flower of humanity, as Spock would say.Yeah, Georgiou was indoctrinated into being what she was. We know she wasn't like that as a child before the competition.
Unfortunately I do not find his drama very compelling.Garak is not good in the sense of moral and a great guy. But he is an excellent character for a drama.
Garak is probably Star Trek’s greatest secondary character.
Here's some dialogue from the DS9 episode, The Marquise Part 1 with Sisko and Dukat inside a runabout together.I imagine Garak was also indoctrinated. So far, on planet Earth, I’ve found most people didn’t choose their ideas, they were planted before they ever knew the difference between right and wrong.
As far as Garak being embraced, he isn’t embraced for his values, he is embraced because of the character the writers and actor brought to life.
Please do explain "how canon works" in a thread asking people what they would decanonize. That's not how canon works, but thanks for playing.
