All of that makes him seem a little more real as a personality, I think.
The writing on Superman has improved only marginally with the new creative team - the narration is still clunky and unnatural most of the time - but I'm still enjoying Clark and his coworkers/friends a good deal more than in pre-DC52 versions.
I'll give 'em a read tomorrow. Liked the cover for "Action." I still think there's a massive disconnect between the cover art and the in-book art for "Dial H." Like I said for #1 on the cover our main character looks like your average, pudgy, Joe American. In the book itself he's much more obese, much less... "attractive" in facial features and, well, less "average" looking.
Yes, obviously. It's just a disconnect between what is proposed and what is actual. And this is a bit less just details in how a character looks and actually is a pretty massive difference and what the character actually is. It's like if Amanda Waller was still heavy-set on the cover of a book and then on the inside you see her as the skinny woman she now is. It's a pretty stark difference.
Not seeing it really. Just looks like different artist's take on the same character. No different than if Kelly Jones drew a Batman cover and Darwin Cooke drew the interiors.
Really like Earth 2 #2. Robinson has structured the introduction of the future JSA in a layered storyline like Johns did in Justice League, but its working a lot better here. In this issue the focus is on the Flash but we also meet two "Mr Terrifics" and a Hawkgirl as well as following Alan Scott to his destiny. ( which we'll see more of in #3) If the pattern follows we'll see a bit more of Hawkgirl in the GL issue and probably meet another future JSAer.
The E2 Terry Sloan seems to be quite a piece of work. His face is slightly scarred ( never a good sign) and I'm getting and Adrian Veidt vibe from him.
@Professor Zoom...I guess you missed my post, but Clark's armored suit bonds to him whenever he needs it (at least that is my understanding of it). He still wears the shirt and jeans as his costume. It's also possible that it he wears it in the League. I haven't been reading "Superman" since I dropped it so I don't know.
I have to say that I find the whole concept a little weird and as I posted a while ago when it debuted...it reminds me of the idea JJ had for his suit in Superman: Flyby.

Bonds to him whenever he needs it? What does that mean? He didn't need it when he burst into the guys apartment, but needed it when he was chatting the the League? This is in Action #10. I'm just trying to understand the logic of when Supes chooses to wear the suit and when he wears the t-shirt.
It's not been made clear how exactly the suit works yet. We just saw in the finale to the opening arc as Clark bonded with it before he went out and fought Terminus (or whatever one wants to call Brainiac). We saw it as you state, when he was chatting with the League, and we saw him wearing his regular costume. I'm trying to understand it with you and just suggesting theories. I've no clue.
Anyone think that Superman might have limited shape-shifting abilities? ( As he did briefly in the Golden Age). Clark looks a little different than Superman. Especially when Rags draws them.
I don't think so. I just think Rags draws Clark really differently than Superman. To me Clark looks like a "disheveled nerd" (for lack of a better descriptive term). Morrison probably instructed him to really distinguish between the two characters this time. I liked Lois asking Clark why they haven't seen much of him lately. Heh.
Right now Clark/Superman might be trying to wear whatever costume works best for the situation. To the public at large he's mostly known as, well, I'll go with the "Red-Blue Blur" in the proto-costume of the shirt and jeans. So when he's breaking into some tenement in the slums, yeah, he'll wear the rougher costume it better fits the situation. But when he meats with The League in the sewer? Well this is the time to put on your business suit and look serious.
I read Action last night, work and other things have precluded me from reading the other books, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was probably one of the better Action books up to this point, look forward to where this goes from here.
Interested in the anthology book which has a horrible title. Sword of Sorcery? Really thats the best you guys could come up with? In any event since I have all the previous Amethyst series from way back I will snag this as well.
Also will add Phantom Stranger but going in knowing this one will die a swift death as the character is nearly impossible to get right.
While some people have dismissed the imapct of the New 52 nine months on, I’d like to remind you that in May 2011, there was a 16 points gap in marketshare between Marvel and DC in dollars spent, and an 18 point gap in sales. There is now around 2.5% point difference between Marvel and DC on both. And that, right there, is what the New 52 has done….

Agreed on all points, especially the last with Terry. When the two Terrific's met I was like "Cool!" but after a minute I was like "Uh oh!"
A couple of nods and world building on the splash page....we see Ted Grant, and find out that Tyler Chem has acquired Wayne Tech.
The Apokorats....not sure what they were thinking with that one. If Jay had gone into the sewers as on the cover, that'd be one thing.....but the scene with the couple in the alley just came off as underwhelming. The rat's didn't feel all that threatening, especially since Jay just put them in a trash can, apparently without killing them.
Aside from that, though, it was another great issue and I'm really liking this new and younger Jay Garrick. It was also fun watching Jay experiment with his powers and be awed by them. I liked the description of how he see's at super speed as well, and it's probably best to describe it that way since different writers have described it differently. The "fast vs everything in slo mo" thing.
Oddly enough, even though I have Golden Age Green Lantern Archives and have long been familiar with Alan's origin,
I totally did not make the connection to the bullet train earlier in the issue. I was surprised at the explosion, and them apparently killing Sam due to all the recent media hype that it took a few seconds for me to recall that the train wreck is actually true to his Golden Age origin.
It also means that the burning skeletons from the cover are not the war dead of China (as some have theorized) but the other folks with him at the time, and I can't believe none of us made that connection!
While I'm still looking to pic up the trade for Action, I think I'll pretty much stick to Earth-2 as the only DC comic I'll be collecting. I've noticed that I'm liking Earth-2 as much as my other recent favorite, Jack Staff. The common element in both is that you get an entire super hero universe in each book and they feel like a satisfying read worth the money spent.
Sadly, Jack Staff seems to be in limbo while his creator works on a new book.
Sword of Sorcery, for the Beowulf back-up. Team Seven could be interesting, but the "slightly earlier" timeline will be tough to keep going. Phantom Stranger is an idea tha should be cool, but will almost certainly be a disaster.
