DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

The pic of Superman in his T-Shirt and jeans uniform shows that Helena and Karen wound up on the Nu52 Earth.

It's funny, I keep calling it Earth 1, the Nu52 Earth... I wonder if it is... has that been confirmed? Which I'm sure it will be, or at least they don't want to confirm it, because then it would only feed the idea that they can "go back."

Do the people on Earth 1 know about the other Earth's yet? Probably not. But...

Officially I think its now "Earth-0" or "Earth-Prime."

Earth 0? Hm. Why not call it Earth 1, that seems to make more sense. It means it can only go up to Earth 51 then, cause it ain't the nu53.

What's Earth 1 like then? And Earth ZERO... as if it's nothing.

I guess I can get behind Earth Prime... though, you have to wonder what someone on Earth 12 might think, "Hey, WE'RE prime, you're Earth 4..."

Isn't "Earth Prime" supposed to be our Earth and without superheroes until Superboy-Prime discovered he had powers?

Assuming that the post Infinite Crisis limit is still in place. Though two are up for grabs since the Vertigo Earth and the Wildstorm Earth were merged with Earth-0/Prime/Main.

My gut says yes, just because of the nu52, yeah, I know it had to do with the number of books, but, it seems to be a number they like...

That was the old continuity.

It's actually called "main DCU earth" by DC editorial according to an article I saw over at The Beat.

I read something to this effect too. I think it was in an article with, oddly enough, James Robinson talking about the Earth-2 book. But I think it was on Newsarama, and either Robinson or Newsarama writer, via footnote, said that DC editorial had contacted them and said that the New52 Earth was called "main DCU Earth" and that whatever term Robinson had used was not correct and that this was how the current Earth was to be referenced in articles.

I wasn't that impressed by Earth 2. I liked the art a lot; the story not so much. It is clever to turn the old Justice Society -> Justice League chronology on its head and have the Earth 2 Flash, GL etc be successors to the modern versions of characters like Superman rather than decades-older antecedents. I liked the touch of having the "S" on Superman's cape designed after the Golden Age Superman's (and coincidentally like the one on Cavill's costume in the upcoming movie).

It'll be a shame to see Kara trade in her Supergirl outfit for that lame PowerGirl costume they've designed.

I think the name of the main continuity earth is pretty easy to come up with. It's the new 52 earth; so why not call it Earth 52?

"The new 52" sounds to me like a completely new multiverse.

When really... This should be considered the 53rd world surely?

Oh yeah, the art. It was quite good. Wonder Woman was done better here than in her own title.

I wasn't too impressed with Power Girl's costume either. I liked Helena's Robin outfit though and hope to see it again.

Sort of odd to go from Supergirl to Powergirl if the implication is that these are their grown-up identities? Is Powerwoman taken?
