I'm not much of a fan of DC's direct-to-video animated movies, but this looks better than most. The CG animation is more fluid than these movies' typical stiff standard, the character designs are solid, and the voice work sounds okay. Still don't know if I'll check it out, but I'm at least more tempted than usual.

Funnily enough I'm the reverse. I check out almost all the animated flicks but I'm not sure I'll bother with this one. Mmmaybe though. :)

I haven't read it. The trailer doesn't make me want to watch it. That has happened before with ones I've ended up liking, so never say never. :)

Wow, that animation is awful. I used to check out all the DC animated films, but they've been going downhill so much that now I pick and choose (I've still never watched the Catwoman anime-ish film, or the second part of Long Halloween), so this is probably a skip. I'm much more interested in the upcoming GL animated movie anyway, siunce I never cared that much for the "Super Sons" to begin with.

You've watched their dogs fight to save the world... Now watch their sons fight to save the world.

What's next? Batmobile and Superman's baby pod gain sentience and have to team-up to save the world and rescue Batman & Superman?

So, since Barry Allen has to be re-cast (probably not for this upcoming movie, but for sure for any appearances after that), there comes the question of who to cast. And I know a lot of people want Grant Gustin, but that's not gonna happen. I actually doubt Gustin would even want to do it, maybe for a one-off but not for a probable franchise.

One fancast I just came across on Twitter (or, admittedly, CBR reporting about Twitter) is Elliot Page. And... yeah. Wouldn't have thought of it myself, but there is enough physical likeness to Ezra Miller, and acting chops aren't even a question with Page. So, yeah, I think WB should definitely contact him about the role.

You're right they are going to probably have to recast---but one thing about the Flash I have had a problem with for awhile now is the confusion between who Barry Allen is and who Wally West is. It is happening in the comics as well as in live action. Gustin had his own unique spin, but in the early years of the series his detective skills played a big role and his personality was more like Barry's. Miller's take, to me, comes across more like Bart Allen's personality than Wally West's. My hope is that whoever is writing/developing the new live action Flash realize that there are distinct personalities for the various Flash's and pick a name that actually matches the character.

Has anyone seen Elliot Page be bright and happy in any role, ever? I've only ever seen him buried under crushing depression which is polar opposite to Ezra's bursting energy. Admittedly I've not seen the latest season of Umbrella Academy yet.

I find that adaptations of superheroes who've had multiple identities often distill and combine elements of more than one. For instance, Batman: The Animated Series's Dick Grayson had Tim Drake's costume and computer skills, while The New Batman Adventures's Tim Drake was essentially Jason Todd without the punk attitude, and the DC Animated Universe's Kyle Rayner had Hal Jordan's appearance and costume. John Wesley Shipp's Barry Allen in the 1990 show, like Gustin's later on, had Wally's need to eat abundantly to fuel his speed, as well as his connection to STAR Labs.

After all, it's not the job of an adaptation to slavishly copy the original. The original source is just raw material for building something new. And the advantage of an adaptation is that you can take all the best bits and pieces from multiple things and combine them in a new way.

The movie division will not drag any of the Berlanti show headliners into the DCEU. If and when the Flash is recast, WB would do well to cast an unknown, fresh actor, while the supporting players are more recognizable names.
