DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Another thought on Zatanna and how her movie would be different to Dr. Strange: Z is a stage magician. That's what she does for a living, that's where she gets her outfit from, that's the kind of visual tradition of the character. And if Paul Dini were involved in the movie, aside from her being one of his favorite characters, his wife is a stage magician, so he has a lot of insight he could work into the movie. And he totally had to put his wife in it, too. Also, the movie would totally need a Penn & Teller cameo.
Yeah, Zatanna has an entirely different vibe than Doctor Strange. There's a sense of fun to the character that Doctor Strange lacks.

The rumor news I'm reading today is that Batman Beyond is in active development with him and he wants Tim Burton on the film in some capacity. Totally mind bending, a Burton verse Batman Beyond.
Hell yeah from me.

That's pretty much what I've been expecting since the announcement, for him to be behind the scenes plain clothes mentor figure, rather than an active, costumed Superhero.

And thinking about Keaton as an actor right now, that works amazingly well.

Can you imagine it...... Who ever ends playing Terry, stumbles into a dusty batcave.... He already met Bruce.... And he or she is amazed by what it going on.... Looking into Bruce's eyes and asks 'who are you?'.....

And in that same voice, a little bit rougher though, we here Keaton say......

I was Batman........

Meh. I enjoyed Keaton’s Batman but I prefer...Nolan to Burton (bet you thought I’d say Snyder :p ;) ).
Either way, I'm unsurprised, but I think Burton's playful sense of the grotesque strikes the perfect balance for the material -- the sweet spot between Batman '66's silliness and Nolan's faux "realism."

I enjoy both version quite a lot (Burton and Nolan). Keaton was my Batman as a kid growing up, and I adore the work Burton did during the late 80's and 90's. Nolan's take on the story is something I enjoy with my mindset as movie-lover now, and I personally believe Bale did a fantastic job as both Wayne and Batman.

That sounds cool. And there are two ways I can think of how that would work. One, Zatanna in the comics has to be a talented non-magical magician. She has to know the ins and outs of the business. She could be a celebrity in her own right without having to rely on real magic and has a circle of friends in the magic community. Or two, the magicians we all know practice actual comic book magic and use their stage performances as a gimmick that actual serves as a distraction--casting doubt in the general public that real magic exists. A cameo with Penn and Teller as real magic wielders would be hilarious and apt.

I know people will say "Bruce Wayne is the mask" and so on but as someone who knows Batman almost exclusively from every source BUT the main comic lines what I liked about the Keaton/Burton Batman (esp '89) is that his Bruce Wayne feels like a real person and you can see how being Batman allows him to express his other side. I thought Bale was good but he just always seems like Batman to me even when he's being Bruce. As I say, this may be more true to the source but it's something I appreciate about the other.

Batman has had so many versions with all the various TV shows, movies, video games, Elseworlds and I've enjoyed so many of them I don't need to have one be the best and only approach.

In the comics Bruce Wayne pretends to be many things: a playboy, a wastrel, lazy, cowardly and on occasion a brilliant business man. (Okay the last one isn't pretense.) Keaton's public Bruce comes across as awkward, unsure and a bit nerdy. Which is more Clark Kent than Bruce Wayne

Quite so. I liked it and found it an interesting alternative to the comics, but I still prefer the Nolan trilogy’s take on the character.

My only problem with Nolan's take on Batman was the voice, it was just to over the top. Other than that I thought him and Bale did a great job with both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

I do find the voice a weak point, but hardly enough to really bother me.

In any case, I’ve been able to find some entertainment from each onscreen Batman I’ve seen (albeit some more than others). Looking forward to the next iteration (though I would have liked at least one more significant Batfleck, either solo or as a major player).

I am quite the opposite really. When looking at Keaton, his Wayne seems a bit goody and aloof, not sure what he's doing. Quite haunted at times. While Bale's version.... If you look closely, his Wayne is a different take depending on who he is. He alters that part if his persona all the time.

I have the same thing. Which is quite ok, it's just another take on a well known character and I enjoyed his version a lot.

As do I. He seemed a much more developed character to me

Actually, it's because of the rampant homophobia that was around at the time (which is also what made Brokeback so controversial at the time) that made them realize they couldn't award it to him.

Too late to spin yourself out of your true beliefs/nature: Others have already addressed the fact-free idiocy of your opinions, but the crux of your entire rant is as described yesterday: your homophobia and hatred of DC movies has you still dreaming up the lie about the Academy wanting to give Ledger the Oscar for Brokeback Mountain. Again, the only reason you are saying this is your accusation that the Academy has a gay agenda it wanted to push by doing exactly what you're saying. Despite you dedicating page after page, thread after thread in an attempt to rewrite history, it will not rob Ledger of his legitimately awarded performance as that DC character, the Joker--again, something the MCU could not, and never will match.

Reply as much as you like, but you are so filled with pro-MCU rage that you finally let it all out, as described above.

Yes, how dare they stoop so low as to have an actor die by accident while working on a movie for them...? The nerve of some people...?

What bullshit.

Agreed. his constant spitting on a dead man is total bullshit and despicable beyond belief.

...and with Affleck allegedly having conversations about returning to the role, his Wayne/Batman--the only other greatest live action version next to Bale--would be great for the DCEU.

I would love to see him come back, Batfleck was a definite highlight of both movies he was in.
The Batman is one of a select group of movies that are going to be allowed to resume production in England. The people who work on the movies will have to stay in a "bubbled" environment, which will only be the places where they are living and working.
