Dent's whole character was rushed, not fleshed out and wasted in the end.

    I have

Which was pretty close to how Joker is portrayed.

It was a bunch of serial killer cliches. From the lip licking to the fake backstories to that bizarre accent.

They felt it would be disrespectful if they did.

    Nah.

    Fortunately.

Jesus, they really need to pop a movie out and give everyone something to talk about other than all this navel gazing.

They are ridiculous, but that's how it is. It's right up there with the folks who wanted the Joker character retired forever so no one could ever play him after Ledger.

The Nicholson one was pretty much how Joker typically acted in the majority of the comics.

Did he really do that well, or was it just because he was just known to playing pretty boys beforehand?

Not at the time, they couldn't.

He wasn't just any actor, he was an Academy Darling they'd singled out for an Oscar beforehand.

    The feeling is mutual.

Ledger was an Academy Award nominee for Brokeback Mountain prior to playing The Joker.

Disagree and I'll leave it at that since it is a tired old argument.

I find a lot of the criticisms of the film to be unfounded--including Dent's development. The character arc was done so much better than any super-hero villain in movies prior to TDK and most afterward. The Joker's story was well done as well. It isn't Nolan's fault that Ledger died and more or less ruined the plans for TDK part 2 which presumably would have provided some sort of resolution to the arc.

Er....no. He was wasted, nothing but the Joker's Pawn.

But that is a different criticism. One involves actual character development/motivation, etc.

The other is a story choice about what was done with the character. If you don't like that Two-Face was created by the Joker then you can just say that, but that has nothing to do with the characters development within the movie itself.

I think of all the future movies in development, I'm most excited for Shazam 2. The first one was a lot of fun. Wonder Woman 2 will be great I think, too. Beyond the gimmick of the Flash movie, I'm not terribly excited for it.

    What are all your choices?

I think that Begins and TDK was great, the third one was a big dissapointing. From all the cops going into the sewer to Wayne travelling over the world after his prison in the pit.

Latest on the whole Ray Fisher thing if anyone cares. Kevin Smith adds some fuel to the fire.

Shazam didn't do much for me, not knocking it, just not in my wheelhouse. The Batman and The Suicide Squad have my The Interest at the moment. I think WW 84 will probably be solid though I can't shake the sense that half of it is in the marketing campaign and that the movie presentation is going to be much more mundane.

Oh. That doesn't sound so bad, compared to a lot of the horror stories we hear about Hollywood power players these days. It sounds like he was just a little thoughtless, trashing Snyder's cut of the film without considering the feelings of the people around him who'd worked on that version of the film.

I adored Shazam! (to the imperious disdain of some), but I'm most looking forward to Wonder Woman 1984 -- assuming I survive long enough to see its eventual release. With the first WW, Jenkins delivered perhaps the best comic book movie since Superman '78, and Gadot is a gift and a treasure.

In order of interest, The Suicide Squad, WW84, and Aquaman 2. With all of the instability behind the scenes, I'm really not that enthusiastic about The Flash movie, especially since we already have the show. I haven't seen Shazam yet, so I can't really form an opinion on 2 yet.
Yeah, it's definitely shitty behavior, but nowhere near as bad as what I was imaging after Fisher's tweet.
