DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I hope The Flash goes before the cameras. Ezra Miller was great in the role and the most appealing actor ever to play the character.

He was one of the highlights of Justice League, but I still prefer Grant Gustin, and Micheal Rosenbaum.

I hope that Flash movie still happens. I thought Ezra was great! If someone at DC and WB was smart they would let him have a cameo in the Crisis on Infinite Earth crossover. Than return the favor by having Grant appear in the movie. Even if brief to see them passing each other in the Speed Force.

I work at Walmart and have been amazed how many people I see wearing Flash t shirts. It actually more than Superman and Batman byna big margin. We are not just taking about young kids or adult male fans either. Young girls and adult women. Full spectrum. I have had a Flash wallet the last few years and get compliments at almost any type of business I use it at.

There is a huge audience to tap into if done right. For a while all the mass merchandise for DC, JLA characters was seeing Superman, Batman, The Flash, and Green Lantern together. GL has completely disappeared now. Showing comic book art of JLA movie lineup. This is not stuff that is really tied to the movies at all. But who they are trying to promote in general.

I suspect we will start to see more Wonder Woman, which is already happening, Aquaman, and Shazam. Plus The Flash. regardless of what happens with the movie.

Strange that as long as Arrow has been on I never see Green Arrow on mass retail clothing or merchandise.

I thought Ezra was ok. Wouldn’t bother me if they recast. And the fact he wants a “darker” story for the Flash doesn’t really excite me.

I don’t need casting fidelity for a cinematic universe. I. E. War Machine. I don’t need a cinematic universe. I want a good story.

Ezra Miller was okay in the role; but the JL take on the Flash didn't interest me much. I'm disspointed that th 'Cyborg' standalone film seems dead, as I really enjoyed the actor they got for the role and the JL film take of that character; but I guess that's not to be. :(

I just realized, they didn't do anything for any of the DC movies at SDCC, which surprises me. Anybody know why?

Warner promoted their horror movies at some SDCC-adjacent event. The reason is probably cost-effect calculation. Anything but Hall H would not do for presenting their movies. SDCC is expensive as fuck, especially Hall H. Most, if not all the potential people of a DC movie panel goes to see the movies anyway. Two of the three DC movies coming between SDCC 2019 and SDCC 2020 are small- to mid-budget movies. And they can just drop a trailer online anytime and get at least as much attention as if they premiered it at SDCC.

Well, I don't know the exact rates, but consider that it is the largest hall at the biggest multimedia convention in the world, frequented by the big studios to promote their biggest movies, and it's kind of obvious that it has to be very pricey. Now, obviously there are exceptions, Kevin Smith can do his panel in Hall H for little money (if he has to pay at all, since he's an officially invited guest nowadays), but he only gets to do it in the evening. In any event, the rates were most definitely too high for WB to consider it worth it. And they still had a big presence at SDCC for the TV shows, the DCU app, the comics, etc.

I imagine all that is truth. But I imagine they are waiting for a year when they have a fuller slate to announce, closer to release.

The only thing coming out this year is Joker. Which is clearly not aimed specifically at comic book fans. Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey are deep into production but will not be out to next year. They run the risk of revealing too much and loosing momentum when so much comes out this Holday season before that. While James Gunn’s Suicide Squaud sequel is two years away.

My hope if they return to Comic Con next year, they have a full slate with green lighted films. DC’s big mistake was announcing films and release dates before they settled on a script or director. Not to mention an actor. Putting Cyborg in Justice League did not mean they had a plan for what to do with him in his own film. Yet they still announced it anyways
