DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Right. I forgot about Suicide Squad--if this movie is in that spirit then this could very well be the "costume".

Did you actually watch Titans?

The one where Robin is and angsty prick who loves shooting people, Starfire is both not orange and a murdering psychopath that dresses like a prostitute (and fucking shoots fire because the assholes couldn't even be bothered to glance at her wikipedia page) and Dove not just hurts people, but maims them? If I want to watch Zach Snyder's wet dreams in live action form, I'll just watch Sucker Punch. At least that crap doesn't destroy a pre-established property. Actually, comparing Titans to Snuder's work is an insult to Zach Snyder. Even he isn't stupid enough to not understand the concept of "Hawk and Dove".

So, yeah, I obviously didn't waste time watching the show made for angsty 13 year olds by angsty 13 year olds.

That might work in one of the other series, but this seems to be going for a style a bit closer to what we got in Suicide Squad, which I know some people hate, and that really wouldn't fit in that style.

Suicide Squad did have Katana, who at least looked like a version of Katana. Its not like Huntress has to steal the look of a 70s musician like Harley Quinn did.

She wore several different outfits in the show.

Yeah, but she dressed like a streetwalker way more then she should have (because she never should have). Also, Starfire is orange. If much bigger Hollywood actors like Zoe saldana can act in green makeup, then the woman in Titans can wear orange make up. To be fair its probably the morons in charge who made that decision, but like the godawful prostitute clothes its just anoter terrible costume/make up decision.

You an expert on "prostitute clothes"? Seriously. In the comics Starfire wears a glorified bathing suit. Compared to that, what the character wears in the TV series is down right modest.
Movies are a different animal than TV shows. Different budget and different shooting needs.

For the hundredth time, Starfire is gold, not "orange." In the early Wolfman/Perez comics, she was routinely and frequently described in dialogue as gold-skinned. Cyborg even nicknamed her "Goldie." And as long as she wore sunglasses to hide her eyes, she was able to pass as a human with a Mediterranean complexion and/or a great tan.

She was often seen in public wearing sunglasses as her eyes were the only thing that really stood out. As for the show, Kory and Gar have the same treatment regarding their skin color and effects, so why is that Starfire takes most of the heat on this?

Because it's a cover for people who don't like it that she's black but don't want to admit it's about race. Although Ryan Potter is Japanese-American, so you'd think there'd be some similar complaints about him.

This is logical in the face of illogic :vulcan:

That depends on the era of the comics. I can think of several Starfire costumess that are perfectly fine, and are fairly modest. Also, yeah, a shitty dress and fur coat is basically every prostitute in pretty much every movie that includes them. You are outright lying or have never seen a movie prostitute in your life if you deny that.

Star Trek TNG painted Brent Spiner white/gold for over 100 episodes in the late 80s/early ninties. DS9 painted a dude and stuck giant ears on him for over 100 episodes in the 90s (and that's not even mentioning Odo or the other frengi), and Voyager put a crap ton of make up on Neelix, also for over 100 episodes. Titans can paint a woman orange/gold and a guy green for 10 episodes in 2018/2019 even if the relative budget is a good deal smaller. Spend a bit less money on the blood effects they use when Dove maims people and use it to make the two colorful character resemble the actual versions.

They don't paint the actors because either the actors refused or the people in charge just didn't give a shit. The most likely scenario is a combination of both of those things.

Or maybe people just want to see accurate characters? Who gives a shit about the actor's race? Its a colorful character, the skin color of the actor literally couldn't matter less. As for Beast boy, every time I've seen Beast Boy in the trailers he was green. If that isn't the case in the show, then he is just as bad as Starfire in that regard, except he at least dresses like a normal person.

This is all like arguing with rabid Snyder fans. I promise, its ok to admit that the angsty, grimdark show might be a bit shit. Its not like I don't enjoy shows that are a bit shit, or have obvious issues. But, I'll at least admit the issues are there.

"A bit shit" is blatantly inflammatory language, and nobody has to admit to liking anything "shit" because normal people don't use that word to describe things they like.

The modesty of Starfire.

Modest...

And people wonder why I struggled with comics for years. Art like that.

This sort of this is what ruined the Emma Frost miniseries...a good story ruined by the cover art looking like wannabe porn.

Same thing ruined Zenescope's Grimm Fairytale series for me too, good stories ruined by terrible wannabe "sexy art".

Exactly this. I know the saying is "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I couldn't get past that art.
