DC launching digital service with Titans and Young Justice

Ridiculous, they don't have any real evidence. I was expecting some kind of analysis of Google trends, or the reactions to news that's come out, but all they said was that it's been in the works for a long time and it's going to be on DC's streaming service. If anything I would think being on DC's streaming service would give it a better chance of survival, since they're probably going to want to give it time to grow.

First day on the internet? ;)

Apparently, Donna. Which makes sense as she's the contempory WG for Dick, Kory, Raven and Hank (Dawn is usually a little younger). Not that that's stopped them for using different versions on TV before.

But which Donna? ;)

All but two TV versions of Wonder Girl have been Donna Troy, but the Donna version of the character has appeared only in shorts and cameos. Let's see:

  • The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure, 1967: Donna Troy WG (Julie Bennett) appears in 3 Teen Titans shorts.
  • Wonder Woman TV series, 1976: Diana's kid sister Drusilla (Debra Winger) appears as Wonder Girl in 3 episodes.
  • New Teen Titans Say No to Drugs PSA, 1984: Donna Troy WG (voice unknown) appears.
  • Teen Titans series, 2005-6: Non-speaking cameos of an unidentified character who looks like Donna/WG.
  • Young Justice, 2012-13: Cassie Sandsmark WG (Mae Whitman) appears in 11 episodes (but only 5 with a speaking role) and in 6 issues of the canonical comic.
  • Super Best Friends Forever shorts, 2012: Donna Troy WG (Grey DeLisle) is a co-lead character in 5 brief shorts.
  • Teen Titans: The Judas Contract animated movie, 2017: Donna Troy WG (non-speaking) cameos in the tag scene.

So Titans will be the first time we've seen Donna Troy appearing in a role that gives her more than 7 minutes of screen time per appearance.

Also, apparently the service will be called DC Universe.

Which is a bit confusing, given that there's already the DC Universe Animated Original Movies DVD line, the DC Universe Online MMORPG, the DC Universe tabletop RPG, the DC Universe toy line, the various comics titled DC Universe, and of course the unofficially titled DC Animated Universe and DC Extended Universe.

Well the site says that the shows will be one of many things on the service, so maybe it'll include all of those. ;)

The e-mail form for getting updates on that site seems to indicate it'll be US only, and there's no news on how the shows will be distributed internationally yet. I guess we'll have to wait till Comic Con to find out the details of what will exactly be available and where.

And the DC Film Universe

That's the DC Extended Universe.
I have to admit, Swamp Thing is not a character I would have expected them to go back to for another solo series.
I would have rather seen them go with a character who had never had their own series before, instead of one who's already had 2 movies and 2 TV series.

Okay, the three up top are Tigress, Black Lightning, and Superboy; Nightwing's in front; and you've got Katana and Metamorpho flanking the rear group. The hovering girl is probably Lightning, given her proximity to Black Lightning and the yellow glow, though I've seen Halo of the Outsiders suggested as a possibility. The guy in green is unidentified, but he's been speculated to be Geo-Force, another Outsider (and brother of the Teen Titans character Terra). I've seen it speculated that the four-armed alien could be a reinterpretation of Forager, the "Bug" from Jack Kirby's New Gods. He looks very different from Kirby's two-armed, human-shaped Forager, but the orange color and the goggled hood (with some sort of antenna-esque motif above the goggles) fit, it's plausible that an insectoid character would have six limbs, and the orange circle on the shoulder is very Kirbyesque.

That would miss literally the whole point of Forager, which is that he's Tarzan of the Bugs. He's a New God raised by the Bugs since infancy.

Well, Young Justice has taken liberties with characters before, as have other adaptations. Or perhaps this is a different character from the "Bug" species and is associated with Forager in some way, like how Aqualad/Kaldur'ahm was an original character with connections to Aquaman and Black Manta.
