I know comics aren't a huge money maker, but I find this very, very hard to believe.
 
The article mentions selling off the comics division rather that eliminating it altogether. A more likely scenario. I'm not familiar with the website, but the article seems to be based on rumors anyway.

The comics division is a great source for IPs and licensing income. I doubt they'd want to lose that resource.

To elaborate. Didio was passionate. You may have disagreed with the results, but you had to acknowledge, if not admire, the passion behind his decisions.

I did go on a bit of a rant there, but I believe I acknowledged the creatively bold choices as a positive of Didio's work--it is the continuous reboots and course corrections that upset me. Now, despite the gossip article linked to, I wonder if it is possible that the 5G initiative is being abandoned?
 
OOTL I know but I'm really shocked DiDio is gone, I felt like books were turning up if anything, it's strange that they didn't trust him to take the new timeline forward.

Have you read up on the next reboot? Nobody wants anything to do with it, it seems. Fans and creators alike.

It actually seems similar to what Marvel did a few years back, where many of their main heroes were replaced too (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk). That obviously didn't stick, thank goodness.
 
Ah that adds some more context, I haven't picked up an ongoing since Bendis made Kent go public and I said fuck this, I read a few articles but I didn't know how bad the reputation of this reboot was.
 
If the next person in charge gets Superman, it would be a good start. I don't know how long Didio has been around, but I'm pretty sure it was under his watch that I stopped reading comics. I'm not actually 100 percent sure of that though. DC made some bad decisions in my opinion starting with Infinite Crisis, which could have been so much more. But killing off Kal-L really was a sign that they not only didn't get it, but they slapped a lot of long time fans in the face. Then Blackest Night came around, and they had a chance to fix that, and chose not to. That's when I decided to stop reading comics. From what I have seen over the years, there hasn't been a story to draw me back.

I hope DC can get there.

He came in as VP Editoral and Superboy writer in 2002, and worked in various roles on various titles from 2002 to 2010, then was promoted to his main role of Co-Publisher as part of the New 53 reboot.
 
5G sounded interesting...not interesting enough to get buying comics again, but at least it was something different. Reading the comic sites, most books sound like shit as "brilliant" writers are milking the trend of mix and matching to death. "Hey, let's make Harley Quinn a New God!" "Asgardians of the Galaxy! Get it?" "Let's make Thor a herald of Galactus with bad hair" and on and on.
