DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

Because of your political perspective, you're having a hard time assessing the truth of what's being said...
  • You're mistaken,
  • " Everyone who uses social media and follows news about Paramount actually thinks so. " - Anytime you say "everyone," you're talking through your hat;
  • What's my "political perspective," pray tell?
You seem to have a translation problem.

I saw plenty of legitimate sources also saying it, so I'm pretty sure it was true.
  • You mean that you see lots of people repeating other people. Welcome to social media 101;
  • You still aren't using "proof" correctly.

But, again, why would Netlfix have to pay Warner Bros. if the FCC blocks it?

Because they agreed to, so that Warners would accept the offer.

As a guess, I'd say that if this deal falls through Zaslav believes it would devalue Warners as a potential acquisition for some time.

Trump says Netflix-Warner Bros. deal could be a 'problem' and he will be involved in approval
Speaking to reporters on the red carpet at the Kennedy Center Honors, which he hosted, Trump said the proposed deal will have to “go through a process and we'll see what happens,” before calling Netflix a “great company” that has done a “phenomenal job.”

Trump later showered Sarandos with praise, calling him “a fantastic man” who has done “an incredible job.”

When asked if Netflix should be allowed to buy Warner Bros., Trump said: “They have a very big market share, and when they have Warner Bros…that share goes up a lot.”

...“But it is a big market share, there's no question about that…There could be a problem,” Trump said on the planned acquisition.

In an effort to steer this topic back into the actual movies..... (mods, maybe we should start a seperate topic to discuss the merger/take-over so we can keep this topic clean??)....

The video is indeed real as you said. I found it on instagram on three official pages (Supergirl, WB and DC). I rewatched Superman a week ago and her cameo got me all excited about this movie again.
I can understand that, after a more wholesome version in the CW show, a drunk and more rebellious Supergirl is something some fans might not enjoy and feel it could go into the 'let's make our heroes edgier and darker' style of movie making. But personally, after a very (and I mean this in a positive way) boyscout level wholesome and cheerful Superman, having a polar opposite of that feels good. If both characters were very similar it would just feel repetitive. So yeah.... Looking forward to what this movie could bring to the table!
I loved every second of that Superman cameo, and I also loved the Supergirl TV series. For that matter, I like most versions of Kara. I don’t really get the mindset that you can’t approach these very malleable characters through a variety of interpretive filters. (That is not to say that all versions are created equal. Different is fine; it’s shitty that’s a problem.)

I’m super excited for the teaser trailer this week, and I realized last night that I’m going to be watching it from a slightly different angle than usual. Unlike most superhero movies, this one is adapted from a single source, a graphic novel that I happen to adore to distraction. So part of my experience of watching the trailers (and, ultimately, the film) is going to be, “How did they adapt Ruthye?” “How did they adapt Krem?” “This scene is from the book, that scene isn’t.” “Why the fuck is Lobo in here?” ( :lol: )

Can’t wait for Thursday, if reports are correct that that is the day.

That was a studio network decision, not a creative one.

It wasn't a network decision, because it affected the syndicated TNG and DS9 as well as the UPN-based VGR and ENT. Evidently it was Rick Berman's policy to suppress LGBTQ inclusion. DS9 was able to get away with "Rejoined" because that was the show Berman exerted the least control over, since he was more focused on TNG and VGR.

There is no problem in translating, I thought you were a Trump supporter.

Pretty common for company merger talks to include that type of clause with a formal offer. The company my wife works for is in negotiations with a few companies for a merger or acquisition (different options are on the table). If any of the companies wants to move to an exclusive negotiation, thereby freezing out the competitors, they will have to pay a non-refundable fee of over a million dollars (much smaller scale than the Netflix/WB deal, but same general idea)—and that’s without a guarantee that her company will ultimately accept the offer.

Oh and I’m really looking forward to the Supergirl movie (just to be on the general topic).

All I know is that in the messed up world we have Netflix from what I'm seeing seems to be the lesser of the two evils

Sure they want to cut movie showings down to two weeks in theaters but it's not like they're Paramount who want to totally unend things with this new "Feeling's don't matter" push from Ellison

Jared Kushner is part of Paramount's hostile bid for Warner Bros. Discovery

Netflix stock is down by almost 4% this morning; PSKY is up over 6%. Gonna be a bumpy ride to whatever resolution there is...

Can we just please open a specific topic for this and keep this one about the James Gunn DC Universe??? For fuck's sake....

Let's continue the topic from here.

It was not being discussed in relation to the GunVerse. It was becoming about politics and such.

So..... The GunVerse!! Supergirl trailer coming soon!! Let's talk about that.
I'm looking forward to it. It will be interesting to see the audience reaction to something aimed (presumably) toward a more mature audience.
