DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

If you ask me the fact that the MCU, the Arrowverse, and the DCEU did the whole multiversal crossover with past actors thing a big reason for the new DCU to not do it. If they're smart they'll try to find a way to do different things and establish their own identity, rather than just repeat what other superhero productions already did. If you really want to see past DC actors come back, just go watch the Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earths, or The Flash movie.
I'd be fine if they did the multiverse with past versions, in maybe a decade or so. But this DCU needs to establish itself first.
One of things mentioned in the two EW articles about Superman that I thought was interesting is that in this world superheroes have been around for 300 years, which makes me wonder if they have ideas for stuff set that far back. It'll be interesting to see a world where superheroes are that well established, since almost every other adaptation has them as a relatively recent thing.

If that's the final runtime then I'm out.

Well, the article said that metahumans have been known to exist for 300 years and are an accepted reality. It didn't specify whether any of them were known for being superheroes. Some of them may have been, but we don't know that for a fact yet. It's possible that they were known and feared, like Marvel mutants, and thus any meta with a heroic bent would've had to operate in secret, or perhaps they were disinclined to fight for a world that hated and feared them (to coin a phrase). Maybe it's only relatively recently in historical terms that metahumans have "come out" and won civil rights, so that they can use their powers openly. So superheroes could still be a comparatively recent phenomenon even if public knowledge of metahumans is not.
I have a feeling that the movie will basically boil down to "Superman protects green alien baby"

Since we have Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern; that means the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps have been around for a while, as well as the Green Lantern Corps predecessors the Manhunters.
If the people of Earth know about Green Lantern, they might also know about the New Gods and Darkseid.

Since the Engineer is part of the Authority and a part of the Wildstorm universe, I'm sure there are some characters there that I'm not aware of who are over 300 years old.
