DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

If this is the person I think it is, then I stopped posting on the board for a few years as they'd made it a less enjoyable place to be. My opinion, whatever it was, would undoubtedly be wrong and theirs would be right.
I am sorryyou had that experience. I will try to look out for you...and even if i disagree, will respect your opinion.

The problem with this hypotheiticl person is that he has a lot of great information and insight.... he just seems to ignore that others may have the same, and more importantly, that he can be wrong and OTHERS can be right. ALso , the wayhe communicates sometimes makes him at least SEEM like he looks down on others.

I have the same problem on other social media with a guy who lives in neighborhood of CHatham in Chicago. He greww up in the neighborhood, and is a wealth of informaiton. BUt then there are times where he acts like the gatekeeper/sole source of info, and looks down on people who don't know, or more importantly, disagree, especially those who can prove he is wrong (even on some level).

Honestly....? I'm at that place. And I still don't see why the mods aren't saying anything. Honestly, I'm more likely to be told off by the mods for this post than this person would be for some of the very hurtful things they posted, while maintaining they were in a correct position to do so.

That person reminds of a certain character from a popular sitcom about nerds that ended a few years ago.

Sorry if my sarcasm, which was intended at someone else’s expense, appeared to be directed at you. This post isn’t sarcastic, for avoidance of doubt, but both of the last two were!
Don't worry about it, I'm not always good at picking up on that kind of stuff, even in person.

Sometimes I wish all the companies would just merge.

That's what they want you to wish. A monopoly would only benefit its billionaire owners and would be terrible for employees and consumers. There'd be less competition between companies, so they'd have less incentive to keep prices down and quality high. With fewer outlets, there'd be fewer places for creators to get hired by or sell their work to, and there'd be less product created overall. And there'd be less variety in the work that did come out. I can't imagine a single advantage to anyone except the fat cats in the board room.

I don't know if I'm in the right place to talk about this, but I think that in a few years, WBD and Paramount will be in the hands of Amazon, Apple or Comcast.

Unfortunately, there is a possibility that the Trump administration will work with major Hollywood and technology companies to repeal anti-monopoly laws.

Why not, considering WBD and Paramount are still losing money due to their debts?

The founders and CEOs of big tech and Hollywood companies are optimistic about the removal of anti-monopoly laws or making things easier than they used to be, so why not?

Also, I don't think Jeff Bezos and David Zaslav support Trump for nothing.

Bezos, Zuckerberg, Zaslav, etc. pander to whomever is in office. They made an exception for Trump, the first time around, and learned that it was a mistake.

I don't doubt that Trump's Justice Department will be friendlier to consolidation and to mergers and acquisitions in the tech space. That's not the same as "removing the antimonopoly laws," which would take quite a bit of doing.

There's a tendency right now to wallow in the wreckage of the future. I'm sure that the next administration will be pretty chaotic. How effective they'll be at anything they put their weight behind is unknowable.

okay.

Because it only makes things easier for the rich owners and investors. It makes things worse for creators, workers, and consumers. There's a reason America had robust anti-trust laws for generations, and why the rich fat cats have fought so hard over the past 45 years to tear them down and return to the policies of the robber-baron era that let the wealthy run riot and ultimately caused the Great Depression. When things get easier for the rich, they get harder for everybody else.

Tamam.
