DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

I do like the occasional stories/scenes where Superman (or any super hero really) just deals with the average thug, or abusive parent/spouse.
Like from the comic Grounded (which was co-written by J. Michael Straczynski) where he rescues the kid in the basement from his abusive father.

Same run as the ledge scene I was applauding above. There's some iffy stuff in Grounded, but there's some solid work, too.

Of course, there was also the awesome bit in the very first Superman story, in Action Comics #1, where Supes takes on the wife-beater. ("You're not fighting a woman, now!")

That topic was revisited in the post-Crisis Superman: The Man of Steel #16 and Superman #72. The latter issue included this memorably poignant moment:

"Her first one in years." Man, that cuts deep -- the father pleading with Superman not to let his righteous fury disrupt his daughter's funeral. :sigh:

Gunn has announced Peacemaker's first season is no longer canon to his DC Universe, season two will take place directly after Superman

Looking forward to S2. I'm glad it's coming.

Not sure why the canonicity of S1 is a concern to Gunn. Maybe some event or detail doesn't or cannot align in continuity with what's to go forward, maybe it's something else. Maybe we'll find out, maybe not. Anyway, don't really care. S1 is hugely entertaining; I'm in the middle of a rewatch now.

Or possibly, more simply, Peacemaker was previously seen to interact with the DCEU versions of characters, and going forward he will not have. I doubt it'll matter much, and as long as the show is still good we're happy. :)

So will he pretend Season 1 didn't happen or still have the events happen, and just ignore anything that doesn't fit in the new DCU?

Photogs have captured images of María Gabriela de Faría on the set of Superman in costume as The Engineer:
I don't have any particular opinion on the pics, being entirely unfamiliar with the character. She looks fine, I guess. But this does suggest that Gunn needs to either tighten set security, or get out ahead of this kind of thing by releasing an official photo of Corenswet in costume before it leaks in similar fashion.

Very cool news for fans. My personal level of interest will depend on whether or not this iteration of the team includes a Super. (The "default" lineup typically doesn't, but both Superboy and Supergirl have sometimes been members -- does Nogueira's involvement make the latter's inclusion any more probable, I wonder?)
