So is this basically to reset the entire animated universe now that Gunn is in charge of the future of the DCU?

It seems like this new DC animated universe isn't even that old compared to how much we got/how long the last one was before Flash 'cleared the board' following the Apokolips War conclusion.

Yeah, we've been talking about that over in the "DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond" thread. The "Tomorrowverse" is only 3 years old with 6 distinct stories in 7 movies, and they've mostly been self-contained with only tenuous crossover elements. So devoting the last 30% of the series to demolishing its continuity when it's barely even been established seems pointless, especially when we just had the Arrowverse Crisis only four years ago.

Where does the second Superman seen in the trailer come from? Have we met an alternate Superman in those movies?

Is that a fan creation or official?
Totally a fan creation. It's a Photoshop job on a cover Hoult did for NME:

Pretty well-done, though, I thought.

(It is not, BTW, my work. I have zero graphics skills, so anything like this I may post is stolen from folks who are much more artistically capable than I -- in this case, somebody on ArtStation called Rahal Nejraoui.)

It doesn't look as though this is the kind of crossover where previous adaptations are brought in as parallel universes (e.g. Arrowverse Crisis, No Way Home, The Flash, Beyond the Spider-Verse, etc.). Apparently the parallel universes introduced in the trilogy will be unique to the trilogy, or at least that's my impression from the trailer, though I could be wrong. Which is another reason it seems strange they're doing this thing at all.

Personally, I hope that's because they intend to make John Stewart the focal Green Lantern of the DCU. They can still have Hal show up as another veteran Lantern.
I hope so too. Not just for diversity....but this will also give us a "in the middle of the action" feel, as if you just started reading comics in the middle of a run...so a "lived in" feel, where we can always go back if needed.

Since Gunn said this new DC Omni Universe will be connecting ALL forms of new media (except, I am assuming, most comics), it would make sense...just depends on the conclusion of this Crisis. Will we see a sneak preview of the new DCOU? Or some reset where they see the door to a new multiverse, which "looks to the future" while we get the feeling that the characters in the movie will continue their adventures (we just won't see them animated)

At one point, Gunn's DC movies were tied to unconfirmed rumors about the likelihood of Gadot (and her statements about Wonder Woman's future) and/or Miller's return to DCEU roles, but if that turns out to be false, Gunn is starting on the ground floor with a universe that needs no tangential connection to a cartoon. I'd guess the majority of movie-goers who will are interested in seeing Gunn's new DC films (no matter the motivation, including curiosity of a new film universe right on the heels of the departing DCEU) might not know or care about a COIE cartoon and its alleged effect on live action movies.

Here's an oddball little thing I ran across -- a chart showing the relative heights of various Superman: Legacy cast members:

Apparently, the fact that Corenswet is so much taller than Brosnahan was a topic of discussion on social media when their castings were first announced. Most of it positive -- I dunno, I gather some women find it sexy? Certainly Lois seemed to like Superman's stats in Donner's movie:

It can only be to the film's benefit if female audiences respond to the Superman/Lois dynamic. As comics writer Gail Simone observed a while back:
Here is a reason so many Superman movies misfire. Only the first two Donner films dealt with the obvious: that Superman is a romance story. They are, not coincidentally, the two films that presented a Superman as sexy, beyond just attractive. The panties discussion in Superman 1 is vastly hotter than all the recent Superman movies combined. I think it's also why Smallville and Lois and Clark succeeded, they took advantage of Superman's romantic and sex appeal.

My father was 6'2 1/2" and my mother 5'2", so it seems perfectly ordinary to me. (I expected as a kid that I'd end up as tall as my father, but I topped out at a perfectly average 5'10".)

My aunt and her first husband are 5'6" and 5'8" respectively and their three children ended up over 6', including their daughter.

I think he better get used to justifying all of the stupid shit he's done since he took over WB, because nobody is ever going to let him forget.

The problem is that Zaslav is probably actually trying to destroy Warner Bros. He's not interested in the creative value of what it produces; he's just a vulture capitalist who bought a company so he could tear it down and make a quick profit selling off its parts. The more WB fails, the richer he gets. (Remember, this is a guy who celebrated how much money WB "saved" during the strikes because they weren't spending money on production.) So in his mind, it's "courageous" to make unpopular decisions that screw over creators and audiences for the sake of increasing his own personal fortune, because for him, increasing his fortune is the exclusive purpose of the exercise.
