DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

That was too easy to predict.

I'm surprised people don't remember that. That was one of the things brought up behind the woke claims last year.
I don’t have the mental real estate to remember all of those losers’ nonsense.
I knew as soon as I saw that poster what that was about and how quick it would piss off the anti woke crowd.
This is what is known as, “Pissing off all the right people.” :techman:

I know the outrage crowd doesn't care about details, but the whole ...and the American way thing hasn't really made sense for a while now, since Superman has really become more of a worldwide hero, and not an exclusively American one.

I’m fine with “the American way,” since I choose to hear it as representing the ideals that America professes and theoretically stands for. But I am also fine with abandoning it, much like America has chosen to utterly abandon those ideals and embrace their moral antitheses.

And the American Way doesn't mean what it did when he was beating up corrupt factory owners and other rich people who took advantage of the common man.

Oh, it wasn't introduced until a few years after that. The iconic narration was created for the 1940 radio series rather than the comics, but the original intro was just "truth and justice" or variants thereon, and the series didn't add "...and the American way" until after the US entered World War II. It then dropped the addendum in the postwar years, and it was reintroduced in the George Reeves TV series.

Besides, it's obvious to anyone without an axe to grind that the movie poster is using the "Whatever" as an expression of Supergirl's personality, and that it isn't a comment on America in any way.

There’s the barest glimpse of Lobo in here. The less, the better.

The more times I watch it, the better I like it. Alcock has presence to burn. Eve Ridley looks to be a fine choice for Ruthye. I think the guy leaning into the camera with all the studs in his face is Krem.

There’s not a lot here that’s directly recognizable from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, in terms of specific scenes or dialogue. The line about, “Krypton didn’t die in a day. The gods are not that kind,” is taken from the book. The shot of Kara screaming in space is also from the graphic novel, though in the book she’s in the heart of a sun.

“[Superman] sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth.”

That looks awful. I didn't think that being better then the 80s film would be that high a bar, but after watching that reheated GotG wanna be junk I'm begging for a witch or an omegahedron. The "needle drop" in Superman was the absolute worst part of that movie, and this trailer is making Supergirl look like its that moment as a whole film, and with a terrible lead character. Making Supergirl an unlikable prick is a "choice", personally I'm not going to support a movie with a drunk party girl version of Supergirl. Also, Krypto going from "lovable jerk" dog to pissing on screen is really classy.

This is the only time I'll ever say this in regards to a DC property: The DCEU did Supergirl better, and its not even close. Considering the fact that Supergirl only gets like 20 minutes of screen time in The Flash its an even more dire comparison. I might give this a hate watch when its available at home, but thats it.

At this point I'm pretty solidly in the camp of Gunn not being suited for the job he's been given. More mediocrity and outright trash then hits, although admittedly his stuff is still better then the DCEU 99% of the time (which is to be expected, he'd have to actively try to make bad movies to get down to the DCEU's level in general).

Gunn didn't write or direct Supergirl, which the trailer makes pretty clear.
