Daylight, Saving?

The Ontario government has now passed a bill to move permanently to daylight time, and is waiting on Quebec and New York to do the same.

That's great news! With all the pandemic news, I somehow managed to miss this. Glad to hear we're taking a step in the right direction! (Although it would be nice if we didn't have to wait for Quebec and New York.)

I think it's a no-brainer to get rid of the yearly time adjustments. The important question is whether to stick with a standard time schedule or daylight saving time schedule. I used to be completely on-board with using daylight saving time year-round, but there are a lot of scientists who think standard time is actually healthier (for sleep, cardiac function, etc.) due to it better matching circadian rhythms.

Is it locking it to winter time or summer time? I'd hope they'd pick summer time.

If you're asking about Ontario, the legislation is to lock down to daylight time, which is also my preference over standard.

We're already on daylight time for two-thirds of the year anyway!

Yeah, it would. I mean, it's one thing to wait on the Province next door, but a State? That's almost asking for it to not happen given all the bureaucratic red tape each would have to go through to make it happen. But I'm guessing they're doing it this way to ensure cross-border deliveries in the sense that it'd be better for business to be all on the same clock.

And yes, it's daylight time, aka winter time that they're locking down. Although, I'm torn. Part of me feels that we should all be on the same where it makes sense, otherwise it brings us right back to the same problem, and it'd be somewhat worse when you consider some would be on daylight and some on standard depending on what's been chosen per state/province/territory. There's bound to be a lot of confusion to come out of this.
