David R. George III

Kopernikus

Commander
Red Shirt
The Trek books in the last couple of months have overall been quite satisfying, given the fact that many of my favourite authors were busier than ever writing new stories. But surprisingly one, after writing one of the most appreciated Trek novels ever (Provenenace of Shadows, imo not only one but the best Trek novel), has gone missing. So, whats with David R. George III? Still exhausted after Crucible? Been fired, because S&S is still paying the ink- and paper-bills after Provenance? Or am I completly misjudging the situation and I'm actually the only missing his epic writing-style?

He's probably here somewhere, he'll turn up. Gracious, I didnt realize how many pages were in Provenence until I got my Voyages of the Imagination this week from amazon. Hey, the more Trek to digest the better.

We only know of 6/12 of the stories in Shards and Shadows, so there is still a chance he could have one of the other 6 stories.

Well, no, because if he was in the book....he'd be the only contributor, having forced the rest of our lightweight, low-count entires over the cliff.

Oh, I'm still here and still writing. But it's nice to be missed!

And thanks for the kind words about Provenance of Shadows.

David, that's good to hear.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading the Kirk novel from the Crucible trilogy last night. That completes the trilogy for me. Just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed those books immensely. Star Trek Lit is a better place for having you in it for sure.

I finished the last few chapters of the McCoy story in a hotel lobby (for various reasons) during my recent OS trip, and was trying desperately to not cry or to wipe the tears away quickly. I managed to succeed with the second but not the first.

Like many others have said, this is definitely one of the best books, Trek or not, that I have read. I enjoyed both parts of the story immensely, but definitely liked the 20th century story better.

Well, I'm holding out for an epic trilogy about De Salle, Leslie, and that hot yeoman from "Operation: Annihilate."

Well, to be honest, I actually have had thoughts about Crucible: Scott, Crucible: Uhura, and mostly about Crucible: Keeler...
The Scott one would be great, although you would have a seventy-five year hole in it...or would you?

Uhura went from being a communications officer in the 2260s to the head of Starfleet Intelligence in the 2360s, there is so much story there.

And Keeler, well she was central to the three previous Crucible books, and I think would be a fantastic link to another three. All doorstops again???

I've gotta say, Crucible: Keeler sounds like a VERY interesting project. Please convince them to let you do it!!!

Scotty is one of my favorite TOS characters, so I'd love to see what you came up with for him, but a Keeler volume would be great. Even thought she is at the center of City on the Edge of Forever, we really don't know that much about her.
