David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Oh dear lord, this is so extremely unnecessary.

It is, but a) Daniel Craig's in it, and, b) had no idea Fincher was directing- that alone makes it worthwhile.

looks good. wonder how well it will stack up as far as the novel and the first movie adaption go.

The first movie is only mediocre. This looks like it will be faithful to the book while being a good movie in its own right. And even if you think it's unnecessary, you still have the other movie and the book, so no need to crap on them doing this. Besides, Fincher, Craig? Easy win.

For those who don't know...the actress who is playing Lisbeth, played the ex-girlfriend of Mark Zuckerberg in "The Social Network". I agree that it was an unnecessary undertaking to do this and as I stated in my original post, I was originally against this adaption. Then I started thinking there is material from the first novel that the original did not include in the film for various reasons that maybe this one will. I think it looks impressive, and the film has been in my top ten anticipated films of this year.

Actually, Fincher's film will have a new ending. The ending of the book was ditched, because it's apparently rather weak and/or obvious.

I haven't read the books or watch the original films (I have the latter but haven't had the chance to watch them), but this teaser was really cool (and I loved the song). I'm definitely looking forward to this even though I have no idea what it's about. I'll watch anything directed by David Fincher.

So it's set in the story's native Sweden? And a Swedish adaptation has already been made?

... Yeah. I'd call that pretty unnecessary.

As someone who knows nothing about the source material, I wasn't able to glean anything from this trailer that would remotely suggest whether this is a story I wanna know more about, or not.

I didn't think much of the trailer, but will probably take a look at the film when it comes out. I've read the books and seen/own all three of the Swedish films.

I'd agree with those comments. I didn't like the way the original film ended. I'm very curious to see how different this is from the original.

I too own all three of the Swedish films, and even saw them at the theatre.

As a result, the trailer was kind of a strange experience for me: some scenes I recognized, others I didn't.

I'm looking forward to this film. Sure, it's not necessary--but then, what film is?

As a classical-music listener, I'm used to listening to different performances of the same material. I don't see why film should be any different--if the material is good enough.
