David Carradine has died

^^ Wow, surreal indeed. Hopefully, I'll have time to buy a new DVD player tomorrow, and I'll watch that episode.

I saw them actually officially say on the television news that it was "an accident involving a sex act." :(

However it happened, we lost a good actor and an even better presence.

Speaking only as a fan, he'll certainly be missed.

Eloquently put. My wife and I were big fans of his, and we were very shocked and surprised to hear about his passing.

RIP, Kwai-Chang Caine.

Which network where you watching? Belive it or don't, but I saw this on CNN with wolf blitzer on a big screen tv at of all places a CI CI'S pizza place with several families in the room. (GREAT PIZZA, by the by)

Reading in The Daily Star today (so you know it's true) that he died of a heart attack from a massive orgasm.
Never tried the ol' asphyxy wank myself, but to die from it I would hope for his sake it was a good one

If that's how he went, there are certainly worse ways to go.

Okay, in light of this tragedy, I decided to finally get around to watching my copy of the 3rd season of Kung Fu. The first episode of that season has Caine learning his grandfather has died, apparently by suicide. Caine quickly discovers evidence to the contrary and he will not rest until he uncovers the truth, thus bringing peace to the deceased.

Holy crap, that was surreal.... :(
:) Patricia Neal was a-mazing in that episode :bolian:

I REALLY am sorry, but dying while masterbating is just TOO FUNNY!:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Wow I cant think of a more embarrassing way to go. :alienblush: :(
I was surprised to hear about how he died at first too, but now that I think about it, it may very well have been the perfect way for him to go. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would die from something like this. If this is in fact what happened to Carradine, then we can say that he and Steve Irwin went the way they lived. Not many people can claim that.

Sad news...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31118992/from/ET

I had the opportunity to spend 3 days on location with David.
We were shooting THE RAGE ~ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117433/
in the beautiful mountains of Utah. It was 1997.
I had been cast in the second bad guy lead, opposite Gary Busey.
When I auditioned for the film, I was given the sides (script)
for the character that Mr. Carradine ultimately played in the movie.
It was one scene --- but it was a great part --- and David was brilliant!

The call came in that I had been cast... but in the larger role of Bobby Joe.
My scenes were all with Gary and we had been shooting for nearly 3 weeks
when David arrived on set. I remember standing off camera and watching him work.

Between takes, Busey would lean over to me and say:
"That Carradine is crazy... he's way the #### out there."
Which was pretty funny, considering how far "OUT THERE" Gary was...
and still is.

Sometimes actors --- particularly actors like David Carradine & Gary Busey,
dance in the dark and battle the beasts and personal demons their entire lives.
The juxtaposition of David's life was fascinating...
as calm cool and collected as his character was in Kung Fu,
his REAL life was something quite less than serene.
My hope is that Mr. Carradine has finally found peace.

Someone once said something to the effect that the tragedy of a genius is that he sees the world differently from his fellow man. It's not an easy path.

You're lucky to have met and worked with him.

Yes, she was! Season Hubley (whom I'd previously only seen making her cameo appearance in Escape from New York) wasn't terrible, either.

Guest starring in the episode immediately following that one?..... William Shatner! :rommie:

I'll have to check that out soon. Your imdb page also lists you as the Pizza Guy from Phone Booth. Great job there, BTW. That was my favorite scene in that movie! :techman:

I got my new DVD player and watched those episodes; great cast and a sad story. There was also the "Introduction To Season Three" with David Carradine playing Caine's flute on the Great Wall Of China. Left me feeling rather melancholy. :(

Thai newspapers have reportedly published a photograph of Carradine's body as it was found in the hotel room. The photograph evidently shows his hands tied above his head, which is fueling the theory in some quarters that he was actually murdered. If the rope was tied in such a way that he couldn't have tied it himself then I'd say it's more likely that it was an occasion of accidental death during a sex act, but that that he wasn't alone and that whoever was with him panicked and took off.

^^ Yes, that thought occurred to me as well. Understandable, I suppose.

Yes, I meant to mention that when I first brought up the subject of Season 3's initial episode. It was rather bittersweet, I agree. I was, however, somewhat amused by David's comments on how cold it was and that it would have been more sensible to go up there in August.

We just finished watching a movie of his from 2007 entitled Treasure Raiders, which took place in Russia involving the missing Templar Treasure. David's part was fairly small, but he commanded each scene he was in. He still looked good for 70, which he would've been at the time.

^^ Yeah, his presence only increased as he got older.

And his wry remark about not hitting the right notes. :)
