Data instead of Worf on DS9. Thoughts?

yeah but with Spiner, you get Data, Lore and Soong. Julianna wouldn't have been too hard to have pulled out of the wood work either, and then there's the issue of his two bad girl fancy women who might just come back for seconds... Sela and the Borg Queen.

The people handling DS9 could have done magnificently with introducing almost any of the TNG Characters... Even Weasly.

Personally I would think that Data would have overthrown the "emotionless" character that Odo was. I always felt Odo was the Data of DS9.

Data would have infringed too much on Odo's niche.

That said, I was never a big fan of Worf, and much less so on DS9 than on TNG.

Come to think of it, his relationship with Odo was never really explored that I can recall, despite the seeming overlap in expertise and duties.

^ Actually, I remember a very funny scene between Odo and Worf about visitors (to their quarters). "I do not make them feel welcome!" bellows Worf. "Of course not!" says Odo, "that might want to make them come back...."

Funny stuff.

his coldblooded killing of Weyoun in "The Changing Face of Evil".

Yeah, cause Weyoun was an angel and never did anything wrong. He wasn't part of the force murdering millions of people in an effort to conquer the Alpha Quadrant.

Thank you! Weyoun was a leader of the enemy that was trying to destroy the federation. Was he supposed to invite him out for a beer? Worf thought he was done for and wanted to do whatever he could for the federation, like taking out one of their high-ranking leaders.

As for Data being on DS9, I think it would have made a good arc for a few episodes, I doubt that it would have worked nearly as well as Worf coming back. In the beginning of TNG he was such an auxilar charcter who came more into the forefront, but DS9 seemed t be a good fit for him. I think it added depth to the character, and helped continue the Klingon storyline in a great way.

Sadly, Spiner would not have done it. He was sick of Data by the end of TNG, and from what I hear, remains so.

I wouldn't have minded Data. Perhaps if they brought him in in the sixth season, and possibly had him face some more moral discions than before, it might've been interesting.

And Brent Spiner is a good Trek actor. No doubt about it.

Re: Data instead of Worf on DS9. Thoughts?

In my opinion, Brent Spiner isn't of the same caliber as the DS9 main cast.

But as a character, maybe not a main cast member, but a recurring character, couple of episodes might've been cool.

Interesting, but not necessary. I think Data fits much better on the enterprise d/e
