Darkman

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Just wanted to know what you guys thought of it... I haven't seen any of the sequels,...what do ya'll think of them?

I love the first movie, it's quite funny and quirkily entertaining. For me it is one of the more successful attempts at making a movie that looks like a comic. But I haven't bothered watching the sequels as they are not made by Sam Raimi.

This is one of the freebees I got on Hd-DVD back in the day. Watched it once. Was entertaining enough, but I see no reason to see the sequels when neither of the principals return. And I was hoping Bruce Campbell would have a larger cameo (it would have been better if Campbell had been Darkmen actually, since he's much more well adjusted to acting in stuff like this than Neeson).

LOVE the original!!!!

Raimi did produce the two sequels.

I think they were the very first movie sequels made specifically for the home dvd/vhs market. The production value is pretty decent for direct to dvd. Many Raimi regulars make appearances. Story wise, it is pretty average. They feel more like rejected tv movie pilots, rather than a full action/noir superhero movie.

Unless you are a completist( yes, I actually own all 3), or very, very curious, they are not required viewing imo.

I also really like the first movie with Neeson. I love Darkman's look, his costume with the hat, big overcoat, facial bandages, etc. I remember those "WHO IS DARKMAN?" promo ads prior to the release that were really intriguing. There were some OTT campy moments, but I guess those can be passed off as "comic booky". :D I remember seeing the first DTV sequel, but not the 2nd.

I think I would have enjoyed it more had ''Bruce'' been giving the title role insted of ''Neeson'' but I heard studio exec's would not found the movie unless they had a ''star'' as the title charactor. :wtf:

I don't think I buy that because Neeson was definitely not a big name back then, unless you're being sarcastic. In any case, I thought Neeson was just fine in the title role. The fact that he played it straight added credibility to the whole thing. He definitely wasn't a weak point in the film.
