Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again discussion thread

Just binged the last two episodes. That was one hell of a ride.

I also had doubt the AG would honor a deal offer made before that rampage, but who knows. Come to think of it, since it was already established in "court" and on live TV that Fisk smuggled illegal military grade weapons, putting him on trial could put an unwanted spotlight on who his business partner was.

What actually did kind of surprise me was that Matt was actually arrested and put in jail for Daredevil's illegal activities. Considering he saved the governors life and brought down Fisk, again, I thought he was certainly getting a pardon.

Anyway, a great ending for a great season. Looking forward to the Punisher special and season 3, and the Spidey movie in-between has gotten more and more tempting, even for me who didn't like the MCU Spidey movies up to now.

This question may not be answerable right now, but I'm still going to ask it: does anybody know for sure whether the character of Kirsten is in Season 3?

There was undoubtedly a warrant for Daredevil's arrest, no matter who he turned out to be. Matt is waiting to be arraigned, where he makes a plea and they set bail.

Although it was alleged that Wilson was a gun running despot, there was no warrant, charges or trial to process his whole dealio, although Judges can lock people up for contempt, but that's just the courthouse jail, and more like a time out than hard time.

Great finale, but man, they kind of did Buck dirty at the end, didn't they? Said one word, got shot in the gut, and kind of vanished.

I wonder if this is because of the post-production edits they made to have Buck not spare Daniel? Maybe the final scenes for him were supposed to touch on that to some extent?

Well, much like the Netflix show Born Again continues the proud Daredevil TV tradition of having a great first season followed by worthless trash. A bad season ended badly, an absolute waste of time in my opinion. If BA gets a third season I won't be back for it, although I'd be up for Daredevil having more cameos in better movies/shows.

If Daredevil is back for season 3 we all know you WILL be back for it just to hate it.

You know, before the election of a certain President, I would have found the whole Kingpin-elected-mayor plot ridiculous.

Now it seems bizarrely plausible. Even the fact that he committed a massacre in front of witnesses and got away with it. His supporters would probably blame the previous mayor :shifty:.

Probably the only implausible thing would have been to think that saying on air that his special forces arrest people, imprison them in secret locations without due process, and even get away with murder would have any effect on the public. Perhaps it would have increased his number of supporters.

Homelander on The Boys is also Trump.

Highest praise for this season of Daredevil then.

By this logic I could give you a whole list of things I hate that I'm sure you'll love. Have fun with Star Trek Episodes like Code of Honor and Profit & Lace, TV shows like Secret Invasion, and movies like Batman v Superman, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Cats

With the irony of most fans having legitimate issues with the first season but loving the second season.

I can't imagine having problems with Season 1 compared to season 2. Was Season 1 too logical for people? Were the villains too good, with not enough time wasted on a stupid evil psychiatrist or a mayor with literally more power then the US Government? Seriously, even in the MCU the mayor of New York can't just make a dog kennel prison to make people disappear. Kingpin in Season 2 basically makes New York into North Korea and neither the US government or the numerous major New York heroes do anything.

In trying to be a real world analog the show went completely off the rails, you're not sticking US citizens in dog kennels for apparently over 6 months with no one finding out and why isn't Kingpin's goons targeting major New York vigilantes like Spider-Man? I'm usually ok with superhero stories not involving extra heroes who should logically be there, but in this case its a New York story specifically targeting vigilantes in a way that is both ridiculous but also very public and there is no justification as to why basically every major New York based hero is just not existing for the purpose of the story. I guess people like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange both simultaneously took 9+ month vacations to deserted islands with no way to hear news about the crap going on in their literal home city.

Also at some point I'm betting some group like the Thunderbolts/New avengers or even just Sam Wilson & Bucky would poke their head in and investigate the anti-vigilante dictatorship that has swallowed one of the US's biggest cities. especially when it lasts over half a damn year and is extremely public.

Compared to all of that, Born again Season 1 told a story with reasonable stakes that used its villains well and never made me question the logistics of everything going on in the way S2 does.

So which character makes a cameo matters more to you than the quality of the story? Spider-Man can’t be used on TV anyway. And from a story perspective, unless there’s an alien invasion or some multiversal threat, the others wouldn’t really care about what’s happening in New York. Most MCU characters could even be outside New York just to avoid dealing with Kingpin. It’s easily better than season 1.
