Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again discussion thread

I'd honestly like to see how they would even handle Jennifer appearing on a show like this. Tatiana Maslany certainly has the acting chops for a more grounded drama, and I can't think of anyone else Matt would get to represent him if he ever winds up in handcuffs.
The Ghost of Foggy Nelson for the defense, your honor.

It’d be nice, but a real tonal mismatch. Postmodern surrealism follows Jen everywhere, and there’s no place for it on this show that wouldn’t instantly collapse it.

Also, I love how when we first see Jessica she's in suburban house mom mode, but when she meets Matt on the rooftop, she's "suited up" into her leather jacket, jeans and boots. As Steve Rogers once said, "if you're going to fight a war, you need to wear a uniform".

Interesting he seems to be just a guy, and is free and clear. Seems to imply he's going to get off for his behavior as mayor (seems unlikely), or that he'll somehow escape and be living incognito.

Yup, I loved that, too.

Either way, I'm digging the beard. :D

It would certainly be a challenge to make it work, which is what I'd find interesting. Also, I think Jen's self-conscious enough not to go breaking the 4th wall of someone else's show.

I'd say the only place this would be a problem is if she ever shared a scene with Wade. It'd be like a meta feedback loop.
I suppose Kirsten representing him would represent a conflict of interest?
I think that would only be the case if she were the one to prosecute him. The reason I think he'd go with Jen first is because (unless he get publicly outed) Kirsten is not in possession of all the facts, and there'd be no need to burden her with the details of his alter-ego while he already has a lawyer friend who's both in the loop, and basically immune to anything from intimidation to assassination attempts.
The Ghost of Foggy Nelson for the defense, your honor.
Not impossible; he'd just have to wonder down Bleecker St in the village and ask a favor of a certain street magician with a copy of the Darkhold. If only he knew someone who could get him and introduction . . . oh hey there Jennifer!

See, that I could actually see — a fourth-wall-breaking battle, each appealing to the viewers.

The beard and the way he's looking over his shoulder makes me suspect it may bet the later.
Curiously, Entertainment Weekly says that Luke is the one working for Mr. Charles. Presumption on their part or actual confirmation?
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I think it might just be the writing making assumptions.

That was a depressingly small explosion for a warehouse loaded with ammo and explosives.

Where my 80s/90s pyro guys at? lol

Wow, that was a riveting confrontation between Karen and Heather with both of them drawing blood against the other. Heather is clearly going off the deep end and I loved that eerie image of the Muse mask in the background.

At long last, the return of Brett Mahoney! Now chief of detectives. So damn good to see him again and hopefully not for the last time (I'm pretty sure we'll see him next week at least). Now we just need Turk Bennett to come crawling out of the shadows.

I actually thought for a moment that Buck would spare Daniel, not because he had a soul, but because I thought the show might not be done with Daniel. Pour one out for Daniel and kudos to the show making me feel sympathetic for the weasel by the end. At least BB is safe and I can only she'll be able to revive her show and continue her crusade for the truth about her uncle's murder.

Between the return of Mahoney, the name dropping of Father Lantom for the second time and even poor Agent Nadeem, BB referencing Ben's murder, and Heather referencing Karen's tragic past (both familial and Wesley), this episode was chock full of callbacks to the original series and I loved every moment. I appreciate how none of them felt forced (well, except Mahoney's line about "keep meeting up like this") and were all well integrated and utilized within this show without new viewers feeling left out.

Not to be left out, it was good to see Cherry, Kirsten, and even Angie (I thought for the first time this season but according to IMDb she did appear in episode two) return and play active roles in the season again. I loved that Cherry is a big fan of Jessica Jones and she just ate it up.

Speaking of which, now we know for certain Luke is indeed the one working for the CIA and it seems like it's some kind of deal with the devil to protect Jessica and Danielle. Undoubtedly we'll learn more about that situation next season.

One last episode and I cannot wait to see how this season will conclude.

Avengers tower was in the skyline shot in toys week’s episode. Is that the first time we’ve seen it this season?
I believe so but I was always bad at picking it out or its stand-in building (the Met Life building, I think?) in the skyline. I think I did notice it this time but didn't parse what I was seeing it until you mentioned it.

Strong stuff again this week.

Matt's plan with Bullseye was an actual surprise. Well played, creatives.

So, will it be Matt or Fisk that plays the "DD's ID" card? Could go either way at this point. Matt feels more thematically appropriate, to me.

She was in Cherry's hospital room after the heart attack, as one of the cops protecting him from the Task Force. And then again later at Josie's, when she came to the door to basically let Matt and Karen know that Cherry was ok.

Yeah, I wasn't sure where they were going with that so I was pleasantly surprised by that reveal.

For a moment, I thought that's what Karen was objecting to during their conversation outside of jail. I'm inclined to think it'll be Matt, too. He'll think that's his penance for Foggy's death.

Ah, thanks for the reminder. I'm not sure how I missed by that, especially since I thought just before she appeared in this episode that I thought it was weird we hadn't seen her this season.

Loved it, a mostly action less episode that nevertheless was gripping.

Matt's decision to do this by the books and in front of the cameras was the best one but he also knew what kind of reaction this would create so by enlisting Bullseye to protect the governor he was stepping up his game.

I think Buck actually liked Daniel and given other circumstances they might have become genuine friends, criminal friends that is but still. I was also on the fence if Buck would actually do it because he struggled obviously with it so it was a small shock when he actually pulled the trigger.

Karen and Heather each pushing the other's buttons was awesome, probably the high point of the episode and it's now more or less confirmed what will happen to Heather in season 3 given that i have seen production pictures of a certain character. I really loved Heather's character arc, her slow descent due to the traume inflicted by Muse and it's especially fascinating that it's happening to a psychologist who should instantly spot the problems but she is of course blind to it as it happens to her. It's not a complete copy of Jokers' Harley Quinn but the parallels are there.

So Fisk is officially done, now more so after the assassination attempt, but i wonder what will still happen to get him to be driven underground as i've seen him in season 3 pictures looking like a homeless person.

Can't wait for the season finale next week, so many things about to happen.

Pour one out for Daniel. This show is doing many things, but putting Michael Galdolfini on the map was certainly one of them. He'll never be a leading man, but should have a long career ahead of him.

I thought the parking-lot action scene was really darkly lit and confusing. I'm not sure what really happened here, other than Matt getting shot in the leg.

Great episode, though.
