You can't prove the non-existence of God to an absolute level, because humans don't know everything.

Sure I can. Just like I can say that Star Trek, Superman, and Freddy Krueger aren't real. They're all works of fiction.

God is no more likely to be real than Spock. Both offer just as much proof of their existence in real life.

None.

No, it is absolutely not a surprise to me. It's what I assume.

If believers do not live by the word of God, why should anyone else?
Did you even bother to read my entire post, that you only partly referenced? I detailed it that way, including my own failures, as a deliberate illustration of the fact that human beings remain fallible. Our level of obedience varies, because we all have free will...and to quote the second half of Matthew 26:41, "the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak". Jesus alone is the only perfect man who ever lived, and He was killed for it. But the good news is that as the Son of God, He was able to later conquer death, providing a way for all who trust in Him to be made right with God in this life, and reunited with our Creator in eternity.

Waste your life in servitude to something that absolutely doesn't exist. Living a life that promotes prejudice against anyone deemed sinful by a work of fiction written centuries ago.

Or.

Live your life to the fullest knowing that life is what you make it without the influence of of fictional supernatural diety.

Live a life aware that your life matters, that you are loved beyond imagination, that your present makes sense, your past is forgiven, and your future is secure.

Or.

Live your life lost in the choking blackness of nihilism, where existence is accidental, truth is relative, justice is nonexistent, life is futile, and darkness and decay and death hold illimitable dominion over all.

I know which one I'm betting on, too.

AMEN!!! :D

but I'm not going to automatically make that assumption
He says, making an assumption.

just because I disagree with them.
That one, right there.

Have you seen the 2008 documentary "Expelled", starring Ben Stein?
Why would I want to do that? Ben Stein is affiliated with Casey Luskin and with the Discovery Institute.

If he's earned a geology degree, then why do you not consider him a reliable scientist? It is only because you disagree with his beliefs, or is there another reason?
There you go assuming again.

No, I don't consider him a reliable scientist because his methodology is not that of a reliable scientist. It's the methodology of intentional deceit. He's a snake oil salesman.

loved beyond imagination,
God's love is a funny thing. Do exactly what I say or go to hell for all eternity. That doesn't sound like love to me. That sounds like an abusive relationship.

Plus, this supposedly loving father figure seems to love torturing his children with plagues, natural disasters, disease.

What a cuddle ball of love god must be.

It's okay, you can do all sorts of heinous shit and then say sorry and it doesn't count.

That's a good point.

If someone wanted to go on a three state killing spree, making sure to stop at every daycare along the way before getting caught. They'd be fine in the afterlife so long as they make sure to repent before the needles break the skin.

Heaven must be filled with some real interesting people.

I know you're being deliberately sarcastic, but allow me to clear one thing up - Heaven is not filled with flawless people, just forgiven people. If God required perfection for any of us to enter His kingdom, no one would ever get in.

That's not what I was talking about, and you know it. Please do not purposely misrepresent what I say.
I'm not referring directly to what you said. I'm expressing an opinion based on my totality of knowledge about the matter. You are not my primary source on religious dogma. Edit: Even if I had been directly referencing your words, I don't see how I would be misrepresenting anything. Per your post, you can break every single commandment and still go to heaven. How is that different to what I said?

Heaven is not filled with flawless people, just forgiven people.
I believe that was HotRod's exact point.

So, in other words, heaven could be absolutely filled to the brink with murderers, pedophiles, rapist, politicians, etc. So long as they repent, it's all good.

Talk about a Get Outta Jail Free card.

God loves everyone, even those most of us would despise for whatever reason. Jesus' blood is the payment for our salvation, but genuine repentance is also key. We can't just flippantly apologize in our last moments, because we're afraid of hell. It has to come from a brutally honest and humble heart - God knows the difference.

*I never bought this interpretation for a moment. From my perspective, once you "give yourself" to Jesus, you have to live a life more akin to how he lived his.

When people treat it as a "Get out of jail free" card, they've missed the whole point.

*I'm not a Christian, just agnostic. Just my interpretation from when I did go to church.

Thank you for being a little more receptive.

I think everyone here is receptive to the conversation, they just express themselves in their own ways. Even in sarcasm, there are nuggets of truth.
Sarcasm I can accept - outright insults and curses are another story. All the latter behaviors do is make those who use them look unreasonable...and they accuse me of not helping my cause...

When you bring out bigoted individuals to use as examples of your beliefs, you can probably expect some push back.

I think with that simple statement, he makes a pretty good point. Those who reject God are literally gambling with eternity, while those who worship Him are trusting in what He promised. The two worldviews are inherently different, and can't be reconciled.

@HotRod has you here. It is honestly more meaningful if we make our own way vs. being guided by an invisible hand that already knows how everything plays out.
