Damn you, "Visitor"!

I just watched "The Visitor" for the first time. Don't know how I've missed it, but...

Dammit.

Can't... stop... crying...

DAMMIT!!

Okay, maybe because my dad died when I was six, but...

DAMMIT!!

"The Visitor" is close to my favourite episode of Trek, though no Trek episode (or any film or TV episode) has made me cry. But I regularly have a glass of cement as part of my diet.

I don't understand how suddenly they know about a 50-year Bajoran wormhole inversion when at the beginning nobody knew the wormhole was there at all.

Deckerd, that's like wondering why Picard and company could see the rift in the space-time continuum in All Good Things...

I remember when The Visitor first aired. i was 9. my grandfather died when my dad was only 17 and it really hit him where he lives. It was like the first time I ever saw my father cry, and i was just like "whoah..."

I can almost watch any DS9 ep willy nilly, except for The Visitor. Gotta be in the right mood.

Since my dad is gone I always hug my not so little boy and we just sit down and talk-which is the way it should be all the time

Watched the Visitor again recently on DVD, having not seen it in years. A really great episode, one of the finest of DS9, and of any Star Trek series. A real tearjerker up there with 'City On the Edge...' and 'The Inner Light'.

I think a Voyager episode nearly made me cry once... I need to start the cement diet.

Yeah, the Visitor gets me every time I watch it...

You're not the only one who tears up with "The Visitor." Along with the death of Spock in Wrath of Khan, I love to watch them, but I have yet to avoid some serious mistiness with those two Trek episodes. :bolian:

It just shows what a great series DS9 was ... and is!

The Visitor is one of my favorite Ds9 shows. I remember TV guide picked The Visitor as one of the best StarTrek shows for any series.

Yeah the crying still happens even years after you first saw it. I rewatched it recently and I got misty eyed.

The thing that gets me most is Jake's response time and again as he gets his father back for a few minutes only to lose him again. The actor playing the older Jake really sold it, but the younger Jake is the one I really felt for.

I find it hard to believe that guy was the same one who was such an idiot in "Shattered Mirror."

Tony Todd? I don't think he was in 'Shattered Mirror'. (I know I probably shouldn't use my first post on the Trek BBS to question a regular, but there it is. Hello!)

And to the OP, absolutely. The only other episode of DS9 move me as emotionally as 'Visitor' is 'AR-558', except no tears there.

I'm a huge DS9 fan and I'm actually in the middle of one of my complete series marathons. Season 4 should be coming up sometime next week. :bolian:

I remember crying the first time I saw all three episodes... I still get teary eyed, even though I've seen them all many times now.

I'm not sure about Shattered Mirror, but he DID play Worf's brother Kurn. ;)

The Visitor is one of those episodes I put on my Parthenon as "best ever." It's a small list (All Good Things is on there too) but it's shows or TV instances that are so special, so timeless, and so emotional that I am impacted every time I see them. The Visitor is an episode that makes me cry every time. It's not only DS9's best hour, but it might be Star Trek's best hour.
