Just like I didn't watch My Little Pony and The Gummi Bears...Here's a little teaser of another idea I've just sketched out for the art challenge:
I'm hoping to get it finished - or at least coloured in - by the deadline tomorrow.

No, Realy, I didn't watch Rainbow Brite
I don't remember any of the storylines, I just remember those Gummi Bears bouncing here and there and everywhere. They are the Gummi Bears!! (of course I haven't been humming/singing the theme song since yesterday...)
Anyway, back to the art challenge: I've messed it up.
Here's my Drag Klingon looking more like a camp wizard than a fierce drag queen:
It's his hips and left leg, I think. It's not clear which leg is carrying his weight, which makes his pose look a bit off. If I can find the time (should be able to), I'm going to do a more "fighting stance" pose, lose the staff and finger blades, and probably the cloak, too.
FYI, the bodice/corset thingy is borrowed from Valkris' wardrobe (STIII:TSFS), and the silver head-dress was inspired by her decorative choker.

- Ooh, it's this sort of critique that makes me wish I hadn't left all this to the last moment again, as I don't have the time (or inclination
) now to re-do it.You do have a point though, Finn - as this is such a small sketch, one has to look very closely to see the head ridges (and the fact that they're covered in make-up probably doesn't help?). And I've just thought that I could have put some ridges on his feet like Worf has, which may have helped to identify his species. Oh well - I'll just have to hope that the Klingon costume (however exaggerated) is enough.
(I also don't like the white "glossy sheen" highlights now!)
I've been thinking about what to do for this month's food related art challenge, and a couple of ideas* have sprung to mind, but I've been too busy and hot to do anything about them. As I don't have any plans this weekend, and the traditional Great British Summertime is due to reestablish itself with a vengeance (temperatures in the bearable low 20s, with lots of rain and storms), I'm hoping to ensconce myself in the kitchen and work on them.
In the meantime, here's a v.quick recipe book mock-up:
This is based on a recipe book by one of the UK's most beloved TV chefs - Delia Smith - and the infamous blue food from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (featured here [sixth paragraph], with sperm whales mentioned here [in the fourth paragraph down]), all co-opted by an Over The Cusp imposter - Delilah Smythe (featured here (danger: swearing!) - who emerged from her cryogenic freezer in the 23rd century and reinvented herself as an Andorian for an ill-advised comeback...
* Cup & Saucer-section cakes, TOS Food Cubes (bleeurgh!), and the aforementioned blue food.

Well, it didn't rain (much), but I've stayed in the kitchen all day, slaving over a hot stove to create a meal (not quite) fit for a Klingon Chancellor and his retinue:

Cyfa, both Mrs SCE2Aux and myself are super impressed by this - great work!
- Why, thank you both! Although, I'd recommend almost anything else on the menu apart from this...
- It was intended to be, but I think that Bajoran springwine is a better accompaniment to plastic bath toys...
- It certainly smelled otherworldly while I was cooking it

The end of the month is fast approaching, and I've only just had a thought as to what I might do for this month's art challenge:
This is my very hurried interpretation of the squales (and Aili Lavena) from Christopher L. Bennett's ST:Titan novel, Over a Torrent Sea.
I didn't have a particular scene in mind when I sketched this out, but the over-excitable orange/red squale seemed to be describing something - the one that got away, perhaps? The squale in the foreground looks like she's saying "Actually, it was only this big..."
I need to spend some time refining their anatomy (I'm not happy with how the tentacles join their bodies - @Christopher, any pointers you have would be gratefully received), and coming up with a scene in which to use them. Hopefully I'll have something ready for the 31st!
