CW The Flash Season 7 trailer!

That finally felt like early seasons Flash. It was personal, urgent, and the emotional pep talks hit the spot. I really wish we had Cavanagh though but maybe he will show up next week. Cisco coming back was my favorite part, and they tried to explain the whole Nora dying but still here thing. I’m still confused about Iris though and the still force. It’s one of the main reasons why I wish this storyline started sooner, like immediately after Cisco left or after Cecile’s episode. They really spent way to long this season on the force family and watching this storyline makes me wish what could have been.
I think this is the first time I’ve felt Flash have a strong storyline and not feel filler was maybe Savitar. I still want the show to end soon but damn it felt good to see some semblance of first and second season Flash come back.
Unless the west and Kramer story goes somewhere shocking in the finale (like how they survived a car explosion), that feels like a forgettable storyline.

Agreed. I think the show is best when the story revolves around Barry's family and the Flash mythology. Bart and Nora are really well cast. The characters have a lot of on-screen charisma and chemistry with the main cast. It was great seeing Jay Garrick again. It was wonderful seeing Cisco again. The episode definitely felt like classic Flash. Good cliffhanger. Can't wait for part 2.

I was expecting Jay's return to confirm the revival of the multiverse. Instead they finally get around to telling us that Earth-3 was merged into Earth-Prime all along. You couldn't have mentioned that sooner, guys?

It's too bad they couldn't get Wally back for a full multigenerational speedster reunion. Hopefully they're saving that as a surprise for next week, like Cisco's surprise return here.

I'd expected to find Impulse annoying, but the actor playing Bart is really very good.

Aren't cathedrals usually much larger buildings than that?

We know that the multiverse is still around. Just that it’s impossible currently to travel between them.
Shame they’re not twins. Could have made them their Tornado Twins.

Yes, of course, but I'm talking about the characters' knowledge of the multiverse, which is being portrayed inconsistently. Last time it came up in The Flash, they were treating it as if everyone believed the multiverse was gone. Yet now Superman & Lois is treating the multiverse as a thing again and nobody seems surprised by it. It's frustrating when they just skip over the characters learning about these things -- like how we didn't know Jay Garrick was on Earth-Prime until last night, whereas the characters have evidently known it for some time.

Remember Cisco was away last season on a trip researching the new Earth Prime. Presumably that is when they learned Jay and Joan live there.

To me Team Flash learning that and seeing it on camera is less important than the implications for the new history. That means there was another Flash on this Earth before Barry Allen. Who looks like his father. Or maybe not...
Maybe they just escaped the destruction of Earth 3 and are living there?

This relates to your comments on Superman and Lois in terms Diggle and John Henry Irons too. We have seen post Crisis that the merger of various Earths into Earth Prime was not smooth and seamless. There were extra duplicate pieces. Alice and Beth both existing on Batwoman. Nash Wells being a hybrid of all the Wells.

So it would not surprise me that Diggle and Argus would be aware that there are refugees from other Earths on Earth Prime after Crisis. But that does not mean they are aware yet that a new Multiverse now exists.

It would be nice to get some answers to these questions.

But my point is that it's clumsy to wait until now to reveal that to the audience. If Jay has been on Earth-Prime this whole time, it was a pretty big oversight not to let us know that.

Good point. It opens a can of worms. It raises questions that should be addressed.

Hmm, that's another good point.

I do agree that it’s very frustrating. They are playing a very long game
on the Multiverse post Crisis.

Can not help but wonder if those mini crossovers next season are going to be tied into that. Whomever appears it will be the first on camera interaction with Barry since Crisis.

Gotta agree that this was a great episode.
The Allen/West family stuff was good, and I like Bart.
The way they just have Jay on this Earth with no real comment, was kind of odd. The way the whole thing played out I thought maybe they had run into him and Joan at some point after the Crisis and I forgot about it.

Now that Thrawne is back can we put in Superman and Lois now? Pre Crisis Thrawne mentioned a fight between those two.

This whole story has been bad. We are supposed to think there are many clones and that they are destroying the city but at the end he only absorbed about 10 of them and the city looked fine.
It was also very rushed. I would have got rid of that Forces story and focused more on this; giving more story to Godspeed and the kids.

At least Felicity wasn’t around to ruin their wedding this time round. :)

Some thoughts (stream of consciousness form): I guess they left the door open for future appearances by Cavanaugh (realistically, I understand why they had him appear as Thawne, I'm thinking due to the pandemic and impracticality of flying-in Matt Letscher.) I'm trying to think of an in-universe reason for him keeping the Wells face, other than stabbing Team Flash in the hearts again.

I had no idea Jordan Fisher was a singer. Great voice.

When the lightning swords came out, I thought of the scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in which Chris Rock sees the laser swords on set and says "I think George Lucas gonna sue somebody". Also, when August Heart betrayed the team I thought of the Firefly line, "Curse your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal." It was great that Barry and Iris planned for that scenario.

I also kept expecting some last minute twist, a character showing up or a new piece of information to propel the show into next season. I also had heard we would see the characters find out about the continued existence of the multiverse in this episode or the prior episode, but clearly that didn't happen. I kind of hope they get that out of the way quickly next season.

Kramer being a meta is something I've suspected for weeks. I just couldn't figure out what was her ability. I wonder how long she has suspected. I guess she is a self-hating meta.

I wish this arc was longer. I still don't understand why Iris was in the speed force, and I guess because of that she got temporary speed? I hope it's temporary. They keep talking about this civil war like it was ravaging the city but it was basically just the Godspeeds fighting each other. They could have gotten deeper into this war and maybe Covid had an impact, but maybe show crumbling buildings or something.

What saved this episode for me was the character moments and the return of Reverse Flash. I had a feeling Cavanagh would be back, and I hope next season will be the last and RF will be the Villian, bringing the series full circle with the first. I know they said they are doing a 6 episode arc to start the season, but after that, or maybe that will lead into the heart of the season, I hope it's Flash vs. RF.

I also really liked Barry and Iris's renewal of vows. It was a very tender scene and man Fisher can sing. It did remind me a little of Glee though, as I'm sure if I hear that song a few more times I would tire of it pretty quickly. I'm glad this season didn't end on a cliffhanger.

Overall, this season should have trimmed maybe 2 episodes of the force family arc, not did Kramer at all, and gave at least 2 or 3 more episodes to the Godspeed arc. It felt like I was missing some key parts of information and seeing Iris be a speedster did impact my enjoyment of the episode because I was confused why she was a speedster, and why she was being protected by the Speed Force.

This had its moments, but it's kind of weird that, instead of building up a story arc through multiple episodes, they just did a few standalones and then sprung this on us in the last few. I mean, I'd like to see a return to more standalone, case-of-the-week storytelling, especially in superhero TV, but it seems more the sort of thing to put toward the beginning or middle of the season, while having some more substantive buildup for the climactic arc.

Also, it was unfortunate that they couldn't get Lonsdale back. Wally's absence was conspicuous throughout. It felt pretty gratuitous that things were desperate enough to bring in the Flash's worst enemy, but not his first speedster partner.

Is making weapons out of speed lightning a thing in the comics now? It reminds me of how '60s Marvel comics had Spidey making all sorts of objects out of his webbing, or the Human Torch with his flame. And a lightsaber duel? Really? I kept expecting the music to paraphrase "Duel of the Fates." At one point I called to the screen, "Try getting the high ground! That usually seems to work."

I wish this arc was longer. I still don't understand why Iris was in the speed force, and I guess because of that she got temporary speed?

It's a callback to season 4's "Run, Iris, Run," where Barry's speed was transferred to Iris and she had to be the speedster for an episode. That's where she debuted the jacket and mask that Nora eventually inherited, which is why they were in variations of the same outfit here.

Well, that was a finale. It had some big moments, big battles, a big team up of our favorite characters and a very nice heart warming moment at the end with Bart singing (He can?) and Barry and Iris renewing their vows.

I liked seeing Big Nora level everybody up. Considering that she IS the Speed Force, it made sense that she could do that so easily. And I liked how easily she dispatched the Godspeed clones with a flick of her finger, very Q like gesture.

I was genuinely surprised at seeing Reverse Flash again. That was a great WTF moment.

When they fashioned "light sabers" out of the speed lightning, I immediately thought of Star Wars. Having 1 against 2 made me think of the fight in Phantom Menace between Darth Maul, Obi Wan and Qui Gon. It definitely felt like a rip off of Star Wars. Maybe a jump the shark moment?

I am interested in what they do next season. I like the idea of the last season focusing on Reverse Flash to bring the series full circle with where it started. Hopefully, the writers can stick the landing and give us a very satisfying series finale.

Keiynan Lonsdale has confirmed that he was asked to do these last 2 episodes and wanted to but it was not possible. He was filming another show and the long Canada quarantine rule prevented him from doing it.

From following John Wesley Shipp on Instagram he was In Vancouver for over a month even though he appeared in only 2 episodes.

I liked that there was no cliffhanger ending this season. In the past those are often forced teases of the next new Villian with little context. Even more now with how last season was abruptly stopped and took many, many months to resolved. Plus there are enough outstanding plot lines to be addressed next season already.

I thought this was pretty fun.
Loved seeing every team up, even Iris. I have to admit, I kind forgot Wally even existed, so his absence didn't really stand out for me.
Thawne showing up at the end was definitely unexpected. And I have to admit, even if the lighting swords duel was pretty cheesy, I kinda loved it, just because that is exactly the kind of thing I watch these shows for. The goofy, over the top, moments like that are what make these shows so fun.
We also got some really nice character moments, like Jay's talk with Bart about taking the hat off, and Barry and Iris's vow renewal.
Kramer turning out to be a meta was the perfect way to end her storyline. I wonder if that was the last we'll see of her?

So Bart said "that's so crash", Only ever heard that used by him in Young Justice, is that from the comics or another animated series?
