News Cruz On The Return of Dr. Culber

Not that his death really created any drama (except on the internet!), it was quickly glossed over. And now I'm afraid that that they will bring him back in some painfully stupid way. Man, they just shouldn't have killed him in the first place.

Yeah. We had a perfect opportunity to to show a normal gay relationship and now I feel like it's "tarnished" in a way. As soon as this relationship got interesting it was pretty much ended for drama sake (and cliched drama at that). Its a little unfortunate.

Well obviously it wasn't handled well enough for me to remember, Locu! :bolian:
JB

besides being gay (my oldest daughter is gay, so i'm kinda sensitive) he was never more than a redshirt with a name to me - i don't get why they needed to kill off that particular redshirt (other than to piss off everybody who think being gay cures a character from redshirticitis.

lets wait and see how they do that lazarus effect

My first thought would be that if he's in the main cast, Stamets will be dreaming about him and we might get into a Baltar / Six dynamic as to how much of it is hallucination caused by the spores or whether Culber still exists in some form. If we're talking Mirror version, it would feel a bit contrived if he popped up as a regular.

A Six style ghost would be really unsatisfying way to use the character and to develop Stamets. We finally get a gay character and his lover is basically a drug induced hallucination? No thanks.
A Mirror Universe Culber could be used well, it's not as if other MU characters haven't been worked in prominently. From what I've read though it sounds like it will be the real Culber, somehow.

I just finished rewatching Discovery season 1, and it really gives the impression that when people die in the Trekverse, they ascend to the mycelial plane. Stamets was able to communicate with Culber because of his unique augmented DNA link to the network.

It was before Culber's death. The same scene where you see his reflection move after he leaves the room.

I dunno, I just have low expectations about the whole Culber resurrection. Whatever form it takes, I just don't see it as being anything other than contrived and eye-roll inducing. Hopefully the writers have come up with something compelling that will surprise us, but my hopes aren't high. Culber wasn't that interesting of a character, IMO, so I would have preferred he'd stay dead and let Stamets deal with the fallout and eventually move on.
