Probably 70-80 full at the 7:00 PM show. No costumed moviegoers.

Much cheering, applauding, laughing at the right places. People really enjoyed the thing.

I went to the 7 showing here in Jeff City, MO and it was disappointingly empty. No more than half full,and probably more like 33% full. Pretty quiet crowd, not much laughter, not much anything.

I don't know if I can read anything into that or not, I'd like to rationalize it by saying it was Thursday and a lot of people probably didn't know it started tonight since the ads are all saying May 8. So it's probably not a proper guage of the movie, but still it was surprising.

Don't forget ads have been stating the opening date was the 8th. Judging crowds on the 8th might be more accurate. I did notice the crowd for the later movie was larger, and my theater was already 3/4 full!

I'm probably going again tomorrow or Sunday with family--at least another 6 in paid attendance. BTW the two friends I went with have NEVER seen a ST movie in the theater!

EVERYONE clapped when it finished.

Bunch of people clapped at the start and the end when I saw it. I wanted to punch each and every single one of them, right in the head. Who claps at a movie?

We bought advance tickets to the IMAX here in Batavia, Illinois, a few weeks ago -- for both Thursday and Friday nights. I knew we'd want to go again right away. Ticket prices: $12.50.

So, tonight (Thursday) we arrived 45 minutes early for the 7 p.m. show, and the crew were having trouble figuring out where to put the crowd. I don't think they were expecting any. They moved the stanchions around three times trying to lengthen the line without blocking exits.

The theater looked to be 70-80% full, and there were teens up to grandparents in age. There were laughs throughout and applause at the end, where most people waited through the credits.

As we exited, there was the same sort of lines waiting as we'd had. It will be interesting to see whether there are more people Friday night, as that was the widely advertised opening date.

I guess S. Florida isn't Trek-friendly, as I've long suspected. If all goes well, I'm seeing it again, this time with my Mom and brother on Saturday. I hope there is a better crowd.

I talked to my mom (an 83 yo), who lives in Naples, FL this morning on the phone and she mentioned the New Star Wars movie...

She told me that one of her friends down there is a Trek-ette too...

..anyway, she is actually going to go see it Sunday with her friend...

The response at my showing in Albuquerque, NM was absolutely incredible. I have never seen a crowd that excited in my life. They did the wave before the movie started. It was more than half full 40 minutes before showtime. Huge applause at the end. I'm assuming it was sold out.

When we went into the theater, they were just taking down the top movie sign outside.

When we left the theater, I looked and it said "Star Trek."

The show I went was expected to be sold out, but it ended up being about half full (I figure the theatre is bad at predicting this sort of thing -- there an IMAX showing across town that was sold out, and not only was this not IMAX, but it wasn't the only non-IMAX game in town). Crowds around here are usually pretty subdued, and this was no different. Mostly some laughs, some jumps, but nothing other than that.

Some clapping at Nimoy's entrance, and at the credits with Courage's theme. A number of laughs, most associated with Chekov and Scotty. Full house at 9:50, with lines coming in and out of the showings on either end.

I must've been lucky. It was seriously the most amazing crowd. I saw it with my father (first movie I'd seen with him in a while) and he said it was the best audience he'd seen since The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Went at 10PM on the East Coast on Thursday. Theater was half full. (But they had three theaters showing 30 minutes apart) Laughing at all the jokes. A lot of chuckling at the insider references so that tells you the composition of the crowd. Although there were a bunch that were probably casual movie watchers. Tyler Perry got a lot of reaction. Outbursts from some during the emotional parts. Clapping at the end.

7pm in Woodinville Wa (20 min from Seattle) two theaters both filled about 75%. No uniforms but we saw a few in line for the 10 pm show (TOS shirts). The crowd was into it, laughing no outright cheering but applause at the end which is impressive since it seems no one claps anymore. I'd say it was 60/40 men to women which was nice to see. This film will have broad appeal. [It was fantastic!! but I'll stay on topic.]

My theater was maybe hmm not quite half capacity for the 1st showing at 7pm tonight. Seemed like mostly 20 something or late teen college kids and older folks. A lot of laughs at the jokes and the first "I'm a doctor not a..." lines, most of Scotty's stuff was pure comedy gold and the audience laughed each time he opened his mouth or his little assistant showed up.

A few clapped at the end... I was one of them. All in all a very a kickass movie that got a lot of audience reaction, a few people were going "eh a few glaring plot holes" but I don't think they got that we're not in a sorta kinda alternate reality I think.

But reaction was good, a lot of smiles.

We have witnessed the second coming of Star Trek.

I'm thinking Albuquerque is probably a good space-science town, like Tucson. Back home in Tucson, they never held a Star Trek convention until the mid-80's -- and then they got double the crowd they expected.

From then on out they had conventions every year. And there were good crowds and people dressing up for the movies. I would like to hear from somebody from Tucson in this topic. The newspaper ran an editorial about the movie, in addition to a review.
