Cricket Phaser Size.

I'll post the same question I posted to Reddit.

What is the actual size of the Type 1 Phaser from TNG? I really can't tell from looking at it on screen. The Galoob and Playmates both have the Type 1 looking huge, even bigger than the Type 2 almost. However, some renderings have it looking no bigger than an eraser. So, what is the actual size the type 1, especially when compared to the TOS Type 1?

I admit, the title of the thread had me thinking of the Noisy Cricket pistol from MIB.

...And for hilariously awful reasons, it gives me the mental image of the TNG crew flying backwards from the massive recoil of the type 1 phasers.

Comparison with a hand again (McCoy's may be a tad bigger than Wesley Crusher's):

Looks like the TOS gun is a nail's length longer than the distance from McCoy's thumbtip to the second ("metacarpophalangeal") joint of his thumb, while the TNG one runs almost exactly from Wesley's thumbtip to his MPC. But your inchage may vary.

Neelix had his own phaser of bout that size--and the one in TAS had a white front and was the largest of all these palm sized weapons.
