Creative Writing, Poetry, Arts & Crafts, and Other Creations Thread

Got some more writing done the last couple days and I'm now up to 123 pages. The good guys have figured out what the bad guys are up to, but now I'm not sure how they're going to get from there, to the big climactic confrontation. I also went back and changed one scene so instead of the narrator being there as something happened, him and his girlfriend end up discovering it after the fact, and have to figure out what exactly happened. It feels like things are happening a little to fast, so I'm trying to slow things down a bit, but not in a way that drags things out.

Finally learnt how to cast on tonight thanks to Pink Knits and how to try and keep the spacing even by not over tightening when pulling with the left hand to complete each stitch which I kept doing without realising. Very pleased with this effort of my first 20 stitches and the spacing. Going to unravel it and keep doing this for a while while I watch videos on what to do next.

they have improved that apophysis program --- it is kinda great now all the things the older programs had but less errors and mistakes for the 64 bit processor the older ones were just 32 bit programing -- this is my first construction here-
"Apophysis AV 1.0.1"

the way that I suggest to view these 1183 image is to see a bunch on the screen then pick some you like to look at large -- these are downloadable and printable in high resolution too,.. thanks for looking at this one or going to the google photos link..

Some disastrous attempts at the knit stitch including something that resembles a farm yard animal and my first try at casting off. Going to try to finish this one correctly then use smaller yarn to make a multi coloured bookmark.

I posted a little more detailed description of my story on another part of the board, and thought I'd post it here too.
I realized, I'm not sure how much I've talked about what it's actually about. The main character has always thought he was your average resident of modern LA, but when he's taken captive by a group of soldiers, and saved by his best friend, who is also the girl he's been in love with since he first became interested in girls, he learns that he is a mage, and that his parents both came from rival countries in a magical parallel universe. The soldiers are working for his paternal grandfather, who sees him as a potential threat to his thrown. He also finds out that his other two best friends are a werewolf, and a mermaid, and that he has a half-faery (the human sized magic being from old folklore, not the disney style little people with wings) half-sister. The girl who saved him from his grandfather's soldiers trains him and recruits him into LA's Guardians, which are basically magical cops.
He also befriends a pixie girl who becomes a part of the main group of characters.

I have completed 7th POV section of my fantasy story. Story turned out differently than i thought and unfortunately half of it is travelogue. And I have only very general idea about POV 8.

Also, I was recently honored. One girl liked my erotic story so much she asked me to write character with her name.

top hat devil and me

blink and you’ll bank too hard and then you’ll
ride off Monteagle, like that Johnny Cash song
caffeine pills and coke, I didn’t bring em along
no one’s back there waiting, no joke
those strings went slack when the neck got bent
and I can’t feel shit.

top hat demon and me got a thing going on
but it ain’t clear, and the feeling’s not strong
Mrs Jones fell asleep in the movies, so lonely.
Forty five dollars to snore through Bond.
And it wasn’t why I moved on,
not entirely only

we dream we die right, all Steve McQueen cool
on a bike against Nazis, not coughing out lung
not losing all the hair. Not flailing like a fool
a faithless fat saint plucked from the ground,
flung into the air. Hilts didn’t die young
they caught him in the wire.

me and Topper get along, we’re chums. That’s why
we’re done. I held a cold Cheerwine to my noggin
I said “I said, ‘Outside the Qualla, I’ll let
magick do with a view of a lake’ I’ll ossify
till I’m mushrooms, gas station toboggan
and a pleather wallet”

once again. Poor Professor Higgins, so glum
he’s tone deaf, no tabs, just the transcript
why can’t a demon be more like a man? once sung
he sprechgesang, did he ever, dry as a bone
I give up what the hell like a Russian conscript.
Reckon I’ll just go home.

Purgatory is Cherokee casino.
Redcaps watching sportswar TV in the bar
Placing bets on tanks and the fate of Dnipro
We never went in. We fished the Ocoee
Top Hat drinks white liquor from a jar.
I must get to know me.

Is it hard to avoid tropes?

I found myself writing last year and when I read my story back to myself I found I had used a trope, well maybe not a trope but an idea that I have seen in tons of other stories and I wasn't consciously aware I had done that it's just the way the story turned out as I was writing. Should I feel bad for doing that because now I feel like I've not made an original work.

For me as a reader as long as there are enough other unique things in the story and it's well written, I don't a mind a trope or two.

I guess but as a writer it feels hard to avoid them. I haven't finished the story but plan to one day. I have a few on the burn.

3 of my paintings from 2008, 09, and 2019 I love gold and used gold acrylic paint in some form in all of these. Acrylic on canvas.
