I have a theory about that. When we are kids, a day seems to last a week, and a summer off from school feels like 20 years. Later in life, a day feels like 2 hours, and a month seems like 1 week. One day you stop and think, and you are 10 years older than the last time you thought about it.

You can now guess my theory. Kids are stealing our time. - those little sneaks. I wish they would listen to me when I tell them how to use that extra time for the best advantage, but perhaps it's their not caring that gives them this power.

Good theory. Maybe we overdraw our own time account when we are kids and have to pay the interest when we get old.

@think awesome pics and highly decorative =) I've always envied people who can be creative. I am only a good copyist. Somewhere along the last 40 years I lost all my creativity.

as people get older they either get --- open and jazzy with their creativity or strict and stifled and the creative element fads .. I don't know how to give people back the creative edge but just open up and let go it is ok =--= anything made is always good .. so just free yourself from the strict judgmental effects of a art critic you know.?

just went into gimp and used the globe filter things so this is my first one

giphy.gif

You see I notice the seam or line that is in there... so I re-did the whole thing
I used seamless filter after I filled the blank parts were there was no ink or pastel with plasma render filter. --- then bump mapped the art/plasma into a raised elevation.. the color index amount on both globes was 256 this one is just --- 32 frames at 1 frame every 0.1 seconds the second one below is 64 frames of gif and is every 0.05 seconds a frame... faster but more.. might make it smoother IDK
giphy.gif

the transparency was not happening as ... the file was too big I guess. IDK as well.

Love it. It just acquainting myself with gimp and I’ll have a play with that feature.

I’ve been researching extruded polystyrene sheet as a modelling medium over the past few days. Any tips/thoughts on its use. It’s mostly for scale stone work.

OH MY that is like a tasked I have started too many times but never finished.. good luck @Timewalker that is a feat that takes determination by far and great strides, everyday of November ---

Thanks! :)

So far I have made over par every day (par is 1667 words/day). My current total is 15,848. That doesn't include Day 10 words (since it's only a little after 7 pm in my time zone, I've still got plenty of time to get them done.

Four days left for NaNoWriMo. My current word count stands at 43,539. Barring a computer breakdown, I can make it. I had one day when I didn't make 1667 words (came close). Note to self: Do not get sidetracked by movies on TV. I could have made it to the 1667 threshold if I'd had another 5 minutes.

My winner's t-shirt arrived yesterday (odd that it was delivered on Sunday; I didn't think Canada Post delivered on the weekends outside a strike).

I just validated my NaNoWriMo win a few minutes ago. Normally I'd push on to the last few minutes of November 30, but I was so close already that I opted not to drag it out another day.

It's the narrowest win I've ever had - 50,279 words in 29 days, but I'll take it. At this time last year I was frantic, since I still had over 6000 words to go (did over 8500 words on November 30 last year, validating around 5 minutes to midnight). So this year I managed to pace myself, ranging from about 1550-1900 words/day, every day. That's a comfortable pace, doable in anywhere from 90 minutes to 2.5 hours, depending on distractions and how easily the story was flowing.

So this year my hands aren't hurting so much, and my brain is not fried (too much; I was up before dawn this morning for the Black Friday sales at the local mall).

I'm going to continue working on the story, as it's nowhere near finished, and needs a lot of editing. I need to make some final decisions on some of the characters' names, with a couple of them having inconsistent spellings and a couple of others having placeholder names that absolutely have to be changed.

One of the goals of NaNoWriMo is to develop the habit of writing every day. I've had that habit since November last year; on December 1, instead of leaving the story alone, I continued right on, putting in several hundred words (after having signed on for two more months of tracking my progress; the goal was to do 30,000 words in 2 months, which I did in spite of increasingly bad vision problems and a 2-week stay in the hospital... yay for wifi!). I might try that again, as it's a good way to keep up the discipline of daily writing.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who offered encouragement. I don't have anyone to do that in my offline life, so it's definitely appreciated here! :)

The Man Who Wasn't There
On my way to Middling-fair,
I met a man who wasn't there
I did not see him as we sat,
And ate, and had the oddest chat

"I am not really here," said he,
"My many masks are all you'll see,
Though you may know me all your days,
On my true face you'll never gaze.

My masks are not the sort one wears,
With plastic eyes and clownish hair,
Mine are the kind that hide the soul,
And let the wearer play his role.

One day jolly, two days sad,
Three confused and four days mad,
Adventurer or merry clown,
I've even one with a thorny crown.

Masks aplenty, masks galore,
Every day brings one mask more
Masks to hide your hopes and fears,
Pain or pleasure, joy or tears.

Masks of wisdom, masks of fate,
Some for love, while others hate,
Masks for work and masks for play,
Masks in which to spend all day.

To hide beneath a mask was fun,
As lover, brother, friend, and son,
I piled on mask, and mask again,
Until they fit tighter than skin.

But then, one day, I came to see
My masks are all that's left of me,
For while a mask can gain renown,
The man inside is breaking down.

Though I thought I was safely hid,
With each new mask, part of me fled,
And now I live in grim despair...

For I'm a man who isn't there."

Scorpion
Scorpion dreaming
In the desert sun
A scattered heart
Wakes at the sound of you
Senses scurry
Emotions overload
Searching, seeking souls who trust

Fox will carry
Over raging stream of life
Climb aboard
No need to fear - she says
Half way there now...

I’m sorry, sister,
But it’s in my nature to sting.
