Creative Writing, Poetry, Arts & Crafts, and Other Creations Thread

I don't usually post my video work-- that said, I am going to post one video work out of like 6,464 video uploads(right now) at YouTube there is really too much going on and what to post is just mmmmm indiscernible from each other --- with that said as well, this video was made on a MacBook pro 2018 in iMovie I did not upgrade to final cut as the money and onboard memory space needed for the program, I do not have .. at all ... maybe someday -- so yeah this video of 5 or 6 videos recently made in iMovie has a long 2 hour 40 minute performance done into 17 minutes sped up with the section of that whole performance then the 17 minutes that was broadcast in a virtual electronic music open mic as a layer -both videos going thru visual and audio effects and color adjustings, thus with the two layers and keeping the sounds from both videos synced to the visuals .. it is really really neat.. the best of the best in my book and I guess I am promoting this one.===

When I'm stressed I write poetry, which explains why it's usually rather dark.

It slithers outside of vision,
Lingers just around the bend.
It hovers at the border
And I dread how this will end.

Scuttling through the darkness
Like a hound it's caught the scent.
I glimpse the closing shadow
Of a phantom that's hell sent.

Creeping ever closer
Disaster follows near -
Despair, in triumph lunges
As I give in to Fear.

I haven't done a writing update in a while, and I've been writting quite a bite lately.
As of this weekend I am at 109 pages, 15 Chapters and 46,115 words. I'm honestly in shock that I've actually written this much. I first started writing it a few years ago, and when I did I thought I would never make it past a couple hundred words. The only reason I took as long as it did, is because for I was going months without writing. I didn't really start writing regularly until a year or two ago, and even now I've gone weeks without getting back to it. Since I'm just doing this for fun, I'm taking my time and only writing when I'm in the mood.

Camp NaNoWriMo is going now, until July 31. The Camp events let you choose your own goal.

Normally I do 15-20,000 words for Camp, but with this brutal heat wave we've had here in Western Canada, I don't have that much energy this time. I'm still participating, but with a very modest goal (that normally I could zip through in a few days, but am taking my time now).

I'll be doing 5000 words this time (167 words/day). So far everything is on track. This is more of the very large project I've been working on since November 2018 (August if you consider that I started prepping in August 2018).

It's not too late to enter, if you want to try this. Winning is determined by meeting whatever goal you set for yourself, and nobody reads your entry unless you choose to post it publicly. The Camp events offer the option of joining a "cabin" - a virtual group of fellow writers to chat with and share ideas or suggestions for your story, or just writing in general.

Suddenly when my mind produces great deal of inspiration for Fantasy, it is extremely short on the energy for Erotica. Why it has to be one or the other?

The July session of Camp NaNoWriMo ended yesterday, and I made it through in spite of the horribly hot weather that made it difficult to think, never mind write (google "heat dome"; one of these weather patterns settled over my province and the province west of here; thank goodness we only got the heat and not the forest/wildfires that burned one town to the literal ground in the other province).

As mentioned upthread, I set my goal at a modest 5000 words. At the end of the validation period last night, I logged 10,135 words, the story is going in the direction I wanted (although a new character wandered in and I'm currently wondering how to get rid of her again, as she's annoying the hell out of one of the main characters), and I'll continue writing every day until there's another big NaNo event in November. I've decided on what part of this ongoing project to tackle then - there's a wedding, court intrigue, interfamily feuding (it's not a love match and the in-laws loathe each other even before the ceremony starts, but it's too late to back out).

I already know where this marriage is heading (as I've written part of it). It's just that there have been references to the wedding itself, so it seemed logical to write that part.

So, my Fantasy writing is taking more and more solid shape. I have finished 4 POVs and I am now writing the 6th one. Yes, because of certain issue Ia m dealing with. The basic version of 5th POV was written by my father and... I am just staring, undecided what to do with it. It is not written badly exactly, but it is definitely too much visible change of style and I don´t know if it can be incorporated somehow. I don´t want to hurt him.

I like the patterns and the first and last ones remind me of my Living Colour tshirt from the Vivid album. I wore it so much it eventually became a plain grey tshirt. The fourth one down looks like a colony of an undiscovered species in the Delta Quadrant. Dr. Seuss in the 24th Century. I wonder what The Doctor would make of that place. Neelix would be worshipped

- I always find fractal images fascinating (as do many others, I expect), so I'm happy that you've posted these - they're wonderful! #3 has me thinking of a wasps' nest, and the similar #5-8 the coming together of a tree-like creature (similar to Groot or an Ent) :)

- I see what you mean. I can definitely see this as a colony of some sort. Beautiful!

just so you have perspective --- on my fractal things--- I have been making fractals since when I ran the computer art lab (with others) in 1988 yeah the end of college --- the fractals back then were much much different -- but yeah-- I have never stopped with the fractals since 88 --

this is a link here to full sized images (they will not upload here) about 2-4 megabytes in size- jpg's my

I cannot hold a candle to the folks here. I will add a brief quip’

One I made the mistake of asking a man what time it was—-before seeing he had no watch. He looked at his wrist anyway and said:

“Half-past a freckle”

Beats half past never

Finally did a tiny bit of writing yesterday, it was only a couple paragraphs, but hey it's better than nothing. I'm probably not going to find the time today, but I'm gonna try to get some more done tomorrow.

Got a bit more writing done today, this time working on the prequel story, which focuses on the parents of the main character from the longer story.
