Part of the issue is the ego behind it, and it all makes me wonder if that was one of the reasons for him being let go from Rockstar. There seems to be a lot of unaccountability and finger pointing towards other parties for the mistakes made, and he seems to think a relaunch will fix the issues.
A relaunch will fix diddly squat unless the bugs in the game are not fixed such as the car bug which for some people would feel game breaking. I felt this wasn't meant to be a game, but hey they had to have something to go to market with, and this is what they did.
Yeah, it was originally supposed to be part of something bigger called Everywhere, with this being just one of the modes. Eventually investors were getting nervous and wanted something to show for their investment, so then the devs quickly scrambled to put this together, and it shows. I wouldn't even be surprised if this originally intended to feature NFTs given how sketchy the entire game is.
I thought it was a tech demo before it was a game
