That's an odd position to take while people are stuck indoors watching television shows and movies made by and starring celebrities, listening to music made by celebrities, reading books by celebrity authors, playing video games using voiceovers and likenesses of celebrities and athletes, posting on forums and sites dedicated to shows/movies/games starring celebrities (like Star Trek!), following social media dedicated to celebrities, elevating YouTube and social media personalities to minor celebrity status, missing sporting events performed by athletes, supporting or disliking the actions of a president that was a celebrity reality show star, and making sure to score easy internet points by crapping on celebrities.

Just like all people, some celebrities are assholes and some are good people. Some celebrities are seemingly out of touch complaining about having to be stuck in their multimillion dollar mansions, but if you compared the living conditions of most of the people on this forum to someone in the developing world they'd probably say the same thing about us. It's all a matter of perspective. Celebrities make what they do because that's what the market says they're worth. If fans weren't flocking to their movies or games and listening to their music they wouldn't be worth as much. You should be angry at executives who can run a company into the ground through incompetence or corruption and get tons of employees laid off and investors robbed of their savings but still keep their multimillion dollar job, or if they lose it, get a massive golden parachute that keeps them set for life.

Personally, I'm thankful to have some celebrities providing us with entertainment while we're stuck indoors. Keeping entertained and not going stir crazy while in isolation seems like a pretty "essential" function to me.

If we're going to be angry at anyone it should be us, as a people, as a society, that create such flawed social systems that allow such a massive disparity of wealth and resources.

Sure, capitalism is better than communism or fascism but no one needs to be a billionaire while others starve, literally to death.

There are only two silver linings I see in this pandemic: The improvements we're seeing in the environment due to the reduction in pollution and the increasing call, not just from activists but from politicians too, for universal basic income.

Yeah, if anything, I find it to be very humbling. It's rather refreshing to see, that just like all of us, they're having to cope and doing the best they can via webcam appearances. This might be the only time we ever see them via their own homes, where they feel like they're at the same level as everyone else.

I decided on a home-done self-haircut just now. A #4 with the Norelco attachment is shorter than a #6 I usually get from the barber, but at least it's consistent all over. Some #2 in the back and around the ears. It's like my childhood haircuts from Mom.

Nothing as bad as this though, I'm not that far down the rabbit hole.
