News Coronavirus Pandemic Information and Support Group

One of the positive things to come out of all this is how it shows how utterly useless celebrities and athletes are and how ridiculous it is to pay them millions. They are the definition of non-essential.
That's an odd position to take while people are stuck indoors watching television shows and movies made by and starring celebrities, listening to music made by celebrities, reading books by celebrity authors, playing video games using voiceovers and likenesses of celebrities and athletes, posting on forums and sites dedicated to shows/movies/games starring celebrities (like Star Trek!), following social media dedicated to celebrities, elevating YouTube and social media personalities to minor celebrity status, missing sporting events performed by athletes, supporting or disliking the actions of a president that was a celebrity reality show star, and making sure to score easy internet points by crapping on celebrities.

Just like all people, some celebrities are assholes and some are good people. Some celebrities are seemingly out of touch complaining about having to be stuck in their multimillion dollar mansions, but if you compared the living conditions of most of the people on this forum to someone in the developing world they'd probably say the same thing about us. It's all a matter of perspective. Celebrities make what they do because that's what the market says they're worth. If fans weren't flocking to their movies or games and listening to their music they wouldn't be worth as much. You should be angry at executives who can run a company into the ground through incompetence or corruption and get tons of employees laid off and investors robbed of their savings but still keep their multimillion dollar job, or if they lose it, get a massive golden parachute that keeps them set for life.

Personally, I'm thankful to have some celebrities providing us with entertainment while we're stuck indoors. Keeping entertained and not going stir crazy while in isolation seems like a pretty "essential" function to me.

If we're going to be angry at anyone it should be us, as a people, as a society, that create such flawed social systems that allow such a massive disparity of wealth and resources.

Sure, capitalism is better than communism or fascism but no one needs to be a billionaire while others starve, literally to death.

There are only two silver linings I see in this pandemic: The improvements we're seeing in the environment due to the reduction in pollution and the increasing call, not just from activists but from politicians too, for universal basic income.

Yeah, if anything, I find it to be very humbling. It's rather refreshing to see, that just like all of us, they're having to cope and doing the best they can via webcam appearances. This might be the only time we ever see them via their own homes, where they feel like they're at the same level as everyone else.

If anyone interested in knowing about Hydroxychloroquine, a video about it is listed below.
I don't know if the drug works or not. We still need months of clinical trials before we know the results.

I decided on a home-done self-haircut just now. A #4 with the Norelco attachment is shorter than a #6 I usually get from the barber, but at least it's consistent all over. Some #2 in the back and around the ears. It's like my childhood haircuts from Mom.

Nothing as bad as this though, I'm not that far down the rabbit hole.

The situation in New York is improving slightly. There is hope but also some sadness.

What determines our response to the virus are gradually no longer the facts in themselves, but the story that is constructed about the facts. From mouth mask to muzzle. Hundreds of 'forgotten' deaths in residential care centers, and in the dramatic top three of the world in terms of deaths per million inhabitants. Ministers of Health and of Budget who have had 63 million face masks destroyed to turn the warehouses into an asylum center and unable to order new ones would be shamed in a banana republic. Here it is believed that in crisis situations the captains should be left at the helm. Would people have thought that way on the Titanic?

The corona measures cost our country 4.2 billion a month, and the Budget Minister who derailed the budget to 12 billion euros is now our prime minister. Our various governments are competing against each other with a spawning policy. A nuisance premium of 4,000 euros in Flanders is promptly followed by one of 5,000 in Wallonia. Meanwhile, every day has its new premium. A crisis requires strong stabilization, but we have to earn back everything we spend today.

In 2003 Europe experienced a major heat wave. There were 50,000 victims, one third of which in Italy. The oldest population in Europe lives in the boot, one quarter consists of people over 65. Low productivity, corruption, collapsing bridges, poor education, poor tax collection, worrying finances, 11.7% unemployment, and a government debt of 135% of GDP or EUR 2.500 billion etc ... Since the start of the eurozone, economic growth and recovered worst from the 2008 economic crisis due to the mismanagement of a failing parasitic political class and of bankers. The services sector accounts for 70% of the economy, 94.2% of companies evade taxes, but the black economy is worth 202 billion euros a year. European aid passes through the clutches of the mafia rather than through the hands of the citizen.

The Italians now need to be helped rightly, but what should be what. And for that there is a crisis pot of 430 billion euros ready in the ESM, the European stabilization mechanism. But then Italy must be placed under guardianship, and the Roman regents do not want to control their flapping farm.

However, the EU always deals with failed Italian state with a soft hand and weak knees because of too big to fail. For example, they could monetize their 2,500-ton gold supply, the fourth largest in the world after the US, Germany and the IMF. Now the left-wing EU Mandarins want to issue eurobonds under the heading of coronabonds, so that the clapping countries can incur more government debts, and shift the bill as well as the reduced creditworthiness from South to North. As if your neighbor who lives above his status and can no longer pay his mortgage comes to ask you to take out a joint loan with a mortgage on your house as collateral to continue his dolce vita.

Our country likes to participate in that European fanfare of hunger and thirst, hoping to be able to eat from the rack, because it has never been able to meet the Maastricht euro conditions, namely a budget deficit of max. 3% and a national debt. of max. 60% of GDP. In the times of economic boom, at the beginning of this century, call honk and euro neuro Guy Verhofstadt squandered it with his purple team. He did have a large retreat with an olive grove in Tuscany.

Just as Belgium is the perfect instrument for achieving income transfers from Flanders to Wallonia under the guise of solidarity, the EU is for Northern and Southern Europe. The European Mandarins never get further than a Sinterklaas policy with money that they always collect from the same members, namely in Germany and in the countries north of the Belgian language border, and then distribute them to the Mediterranean countries. The Protestant euro must always be placed in the Catholic sacrificial block. If they do it over there, they are accused of selfishness and lack of solidarity.

But forced solidarity is blackmail. A gift of one billion euros from the Netherlands to the Italians to combat the corona crisis is considered alms, more like chrysanthemums on their graves than tulips on their mantelpieces. The cricket blames the ant for saving, and then wants to stick to his savings. Our Northern neighbors have their accounts in order, a budget surplus of EUR 12 billion - the same as our deficit - and a government debt of barely 50% of GDP. A Dutchman has to work until the age of 66 in order for a French cheminot to retire at the age of 52. By joining the currency union, the weak countries were able to borrow from the rates of the strong and continue their wastefulness. The Greek tragedy became the culmination of the debt epidemic for the time being.

The European Central Bank is printing money as the Greeks in ancient times added so much copper to their gold coins until they were of little value. The Hellenes never unlearned it. In 2015 we assisted them with 400 billion euros. In the 14th century, when the plague bacillus blew through Europe as the Black Death, the French kings tinkered with the "allooi" or metallic compositions of their coins. Low-level practices that European Mandarins have not yet forgotten either. The same is now threatening to happen with Euro bonds. Suddenly we are rediscovering the national states for draconian measures and closed borders, but we are calling for an internationalization of the debts. French President Macron claimed all 6 million mouth masks from the Swedish firm Mölnlycke from Lyon for himself, but the Scandinavians must help fill the gaping hole in his budget.

We now have 1.5 million (temporary) unemployed. Our benefit dependency was already structurally high and our productivity growth structurally low. We must get to work as soon as possible. In the past, our government has always been a scammer who charged usury taxes afterwards for every euro she distributed. With Vivaldi, we will soon smile green and pay our blue and the pandemic will be abused as a lever for anti-globalism, corporatism and protectionism. "The social decline of the middle class is what drives aggressive polarization," wrote Francis Fukuyama. Never say later that I didn't warn you about that.
