I have a few questions about Voyager that others here may have satisfactory answers to and it occurred to me that the same could be true for others as well. So why not use this thread to pose these puzzling questions?

So I'll start with this: What was the ship Alice trying to do in the eponymous episode? I've watched it many times and can't come up with a solution unless it was trying to self-destruct... which is kind of weird.

In the pilot episode Caretaker. After everyone has been beamed back to ship from the surface of Ocampa (Chakotay's broken leg is fixed, Torres and Kim are treated for their Caretaker induced illness). Why is Torres back in her Maquis leathers.

I assume the ones she wore when she was abducted were back on the Caretaker's array. She was wearing the Ocampa clothing when she was beamed to Voyager. So, did she have a spare set beamed over from the Maquis ship? Or did she have someone replicate a set for her on Voyager before she was treated. Because that is what she is wearing when she and Chakotay get up from the bio-beds and leave sick-bay.

I guess she replicated a similar outfit when they arrived to the ship.

This scenario is similar to what happened when Neelix and the Voyager crew rescue Kes from the Kazon. When Kes is beamed up to the ship, she wears some drab gray clothes but when she's treated in sickbay shortly after, she wears a red and yellow outfit.

I find it odd that changing clothes would be more important for her than being treated for the bruises the kazon gave her, especially when Janeway and the others are around and probably were very eager to have her examined in sickbay first.

But maybe the following happened after they had beamed up to the ship.

JANEWAY: Follow me, we're going to sickbay to fix your injuries. Then I have some questions to ask.
Janeway hurries away in the corridors and Chakotay, Paris, Tuvok, Kes and Neelix are following her.

KES: Hey Neelix, where did you get that smashing outfit?
NEELIX: I replicated it! They have replicators here which can make clothes!
KES: Take me to one immediately, I must have a new one!
JANEWAY: Neelix can show you how to do later, we must go to sickbay first!
KES: No, I need new clothes now! That's more important! I don't want to bee seen in this trash clothes! I hate gray!
JANEWAY:

Actually I've noticed in all the series, little things like this that stand out.

In that episode of TNG where Geordi was transforming into an alien life form. His old friend and mentor from a previous posting had been cured of the same affliction. She says she will be the one that can help find him when they beam down. They've only got an hour before there's not enough of his DNA left to restore him. So, I'll buy that she had time to slip on a uniform to beam down instead of the sick-bay gown, but apparently she also had time to intricately braid and put up her hair?:shrug:

^ Lieutenant Commander Leijten had a uniform beamed onto her and was as proficient as Janeway at fixing her hair on the move (just watch the Captain go in "Caretaker") :)

Well, what were our characters wearing under those drab and extensively covering robes?

We lose the remarkably revealing cleavage on Torres when she changes from the hospital whites to the dark robe, so there could be pretty much anything underneath the latter whilst there was apparently nothing underneath the former. When she crawls to the surface with Kes and Paris, we see she doesn't have those thigh-length leather boots, though.

In contrast, Starfleet doesn't show any leg after getting dark-robed, so for all we know he donned his full uniform before covering it with said robe.

Kes might be expected to be attractively clad for her supposed role in the Kazon community, even if any surface forays or toilet-cleaning duty would require her to cover that with more utilitarian colors and shapes.
