Continuity errors in movies:Your favorites

The entire genesis of the Alien 3 plot. Just how the hell did that egg get on the Sulaco anyway??

Uhm.. giant Alien Queen secretly taking a lift in a Sulaco Assault Ship when Bishop, Ripley and Newt returned after nuking the colony?

"Girl in Gold Boots."

Also a MST3K movie, in the cut of the movie they used, one of the male leads and the female lead are talking in a diner. Then there's an abrupt jump/edit (as if someone turned the camera on and then back on) and afterwards the second male-lead is suddenly sitting at the table with the other characters and the first two continue their conversation as if nothing odd has happend.

"Does anyone notice I'm here now?"
"Comeon! I just teleported! It's impressive!"
How in the heck did I forget that!? That's one of my all-time favorite MST3K moments.

There was a Youtube video featuring MST3K's top WTF moments, and that was one of them. I assume it's still there, but I'm too lazy check.

Tom Servo: "I'm back!"

One of my favorites, off the top of my head, occurs during the raptor hatching scene in Jurassic Park. There's a robotic arm that holds and turns the eggs; when the raptor egg begins to crack, it swings over and grabs the egg to stabilize it. Then Hammond comes over, the angle changes and the robotic arm is gone--not just moved to one side or something but actually, totally gone.

in cowboy bebop, Spike uses a Jericho 941 chambered in the .41 AE, a round that flopped pretty quickly due to the introduction of the .40 S&W, an impossible round to find today, let alone in 2071 after earth is nearly destroyed

Star Wars: A New Hope

"Gold Five to Red Leader"
"I copy, Gold Leader"

Alien

Kane is wearing his headgear under his helmet but when they get him back on the ship and crack his helmet, it vanishes.

Plus the length of Brett's cigarette varies during the 'Parrot' scene.

Aliens

When Frost falls over the gantry on sub-level 3 on fire, a foot is visible on a lower level (on the left), baring in mind everyone is supposed to be on sub-level 3.

Insurrection

While on the Holoship Picard engages a Son'a warrior. As his weapon is fired it hits the fountain, disrupting the water but still remaining part of the simulation. Later, Ru'Afo fires his phaser on the same holoship, but this time disrupts the simulation.

That one's potentially explainable, though -- the Ba'ku village simulation was perfect down to the smallest details. Ru'afo only realized that they had been beamed onto the holoship because of imperfections in the visuals ... there was that flickering glimpse of the holofield (or whatever the fuck it's called). Maybe a simulation so hastily cobbled together wouldn't have the integrity of something so meticulous as the Ba'ku village did.

Are you forgetting that the queen detached herself from the egg sack in order to pursue Ripley? It was also upside down. It just seems very unlikely.

Star Wars: Episode III: revenge of the Sith
When Obi-Wan delivers Luke to Beru, you see him in the distance revealing the boy from his robe. But in a close up shot, he opens his robe again doing the same thing. (Didn't catch that one till the commentary.)

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Pippen is bound, and rolling around on the ground as the Orcs are attacked. A horse tramples Pippen, he rolls on his back, and spreads his arms (Remember, he's supposed to be bound.) and panicks. Merry saves him, then he's crawling on the ground with his hands tied again.

Independence Day
Jeff Goldblum opens the fridge to get some wine. It's completely stocked with food. He opens it again, it's empty. In the same scene! What happened to the food! BTW, its in the July 4th section of ID4, just before they use nuclear missles on the alien craft.

Data had noted in the Baku Village that the holofield was malfunctioning on the ship (one wonders why they were so ready to use it if their ship wasn't at 100% yet.) The phaser shots in the Baku Village hit "finished" parts of the simulation thus the simulation reacted accordingly. Ru'afo shot at the malfunctioning part of the simulation, damaging the holo-emitters underneath.

I think the worse error is Goldblum is able to hack the alien ship using a Mac!

Humans can barely understand Macs, let alone aliens.

The MST3K movie Space Mutiny has a scene in which the villain kills a member of the crew. Death, however, fails to keep her from manning her position on the bridge in the very next scene.

"Look alive, everyone! Oh, sorry Suzzie."

:guffaw::guffaw:

"I think it's great you gave that dead woman another chance."

Girl in Gold Boots is full of great odd little edits.

(An abrupt cut to a dune-buggy racing after a quite scene.)
"Ah! They're throwing us violently into the next scene!"

(A quick cut of the Icky Elf taking a drink for a split-second between scenes.)
"Oh, forget that scene, nevermind."

I wonder where they dug up that cut of the movie? I've heard that there's a better cut of it without the "teleporting" scene and the other odd jumps but they must've dug up this cut somewhere. Another one I love is when Michelle get's slapped by her dad at "Eat" and yells. Cut to the Icky Elf doing a touble-take to the door-leading to the back of the diner. "Hey! They've got tacos!"

"Pepsi paid handsomely for this product placement."

 Oh, MST. You almost never fail to make me laugh. Unless you're doing Hamlet or TISCWDABMUZ.

TISCWDABMUZ wasn't that bad, even though hamlet wasn't too good. I just remember from TISCWDABMUZ the scene where the guy is on the beach and tosses a rock into the sea and Servo goes:

"And he misses the ocean...."

I almost pissed my pants.:guffaw:

TISCWDWERJATUA!I@(_LOQ!<CBZ , I guess, isn't "that bad', it's just a chore for me to get through.

"Boy, the duct tape did NOT come off easy tonight!"
"SLEEP!!!"
"Ok, lady. You've hypnotized the HELL out of me!"

Not as bad as Hamlet, no, but still a chore.

I just wish the phasers could have disrupted the comic relief.

"Mr La Forge, take us to warp speed"
"Aye sir, full impulse"

Generations...

"Mr. Worf, prepare a spread of photon torpedoes, we have to hit them the instant they begin to decloak."

"Aye, sir!"

Then Worf fires one lone torpedo at Lursa and B'Etor's ship. So much for the spread. ;)

What about using the exact same Klingon BOP explosion in Generations from The Undiscovered Country? It wasn't even edited. Even that Klingon running from the firey explosion in the ship is there. They didn't think Trek fans would notice that HUGE mistake? I still love that movie, but the final explosion makes me cringe each time. That's another reason I'm excited for this new movie. No recycled footage is possible. Everything will be new.

On the subject of Insurrection, we can't forget the mystery of the disappearing Son'a soldier on the holoship. Or Data's floatation devide gag when, in "Decent", it was established that he can't float.

I'm pretty sure those shots of the Klingons running from the flames were new.

Now, they became embarassingly re-used in the Deep Space Nine finale, where they were coupled with a shot of an explosion around Garak* of all people to show the damage happening inside a Cardassian ship!

*may have been Damar...memory is vague
