STAMETS: I hate you. How?

 

[Orac]

Straal [on monitor]: All I can say is there are unexpected benefits to not growing your own. Right now, we have to finish getting ready. Tonight we're going for Speirein 900.

 

[CaptVader]

Stamets: That's not possible.

 

[Orac]

Straal [on monitor]: Don't be like that. You're one of my oldest friends. We've been working on this for 12 years. When we succeed, both our names are going on the Zee-Magnees Prize.

 

[May 20]

STAMETS: I'm not jealous, oddly. I'm worried. That displacement is too massive. It's not safe.

 

[CaptVader]

Straal [on monitor]: It is now. I worked out the kinks. Lurker.

(Stamets turns off his holo-monitor.)

 

[Orac]

Stamets: I despise lurkers.

 

[CaptVader]

Burnham: I'm struggling with these equations. Initially thought I was dealing with quantum astrophysics. But as I got deeper in, biochemistry came into play. Maybe even a form of gene expression. It'd be helpful to know what I'm working on.

 

[Athena28]

STAMETS: Why would I tell a prisoner of the Federation, who is essentially a temp, the details of my top secret research?

 

[CaptVader]

Burnham: It's your call. But either way, this line here? It's a mistake.

 

[Orac]

Stamets: You can go, lurker.

 

[CaptVader]

Computer: Submit breath scan for entry. Lieutenant Paul Stamets. (Stamets goes into the top secret lab. Burnham returns to her quarters unescorted where Tilly is snoring whilst sleeping on her side, not unusual. Burnham collects some of her drool, sneaks onto the bridge and gets a gizmo from a box on the bulkhead, then returns to Engineering.) Submit breath scan for entry.
(The gizmo fires a pulse of air at the drool and into the sensor.) Cadet Sylvia Tilly. (Burnham goes through two doors - an airlock of sorts - and gazes at the exotic flora in the huge lab.)

 

[Orac]

[Ready room]

Computer: Incoming transmission. Designee Lorca, Gabriel. Classified Above Top Secret.

 

[CaptVader]

[Engineering]

(Burnham is at her station next to Tilly when Lorca enters with Saru.)

Lorca: During the last hour, while performing black alert maneuvers, there was an incident on our sister ship, the USS Glenn. The entire crew was lost.

 

[Orac]

Stamets: What happened? Was it a bloom failure?

 

[CaptVader]

Lorca: We're sending a boarding party to find out. Lieutenant Stamets, you'll accompany Commander Landry and ensure that everything related to the project returns to this ship.

 

[Orac]

Stamets: Why not just transport what we need from the Glenn over to us?

 

[CaptVader]

Saru: The room holding the equipment is shielded.

 

[Orac]

Stamets: Shielded? That's curious.

 

[CaptVader]

Saru: Indeed.
