Constellation Class Starship

I did the numbering myself, its too late to change now, but I'll remember that numbering convention in the future.

Wow. This is truly impressive. It has inspired me to get back to work on my 1/350th Stargazer model. Can't wait to see more.

I don't have the magazine w/me, but the "semi-official" word I seem to recall from an article in "Star Trek: The Magazine" written my Mr. Rick Sternbach states that it's meant to be a long-range exploration cruiser. There's really only one shuttlebay - located in the bow - and the others are research bays, IIRC.

Here's an idea... He actually visits the board, as you may recall, might as well get his direct comments on it... *sneaks aboard the model and stands in front of the bridge head mirror with the lights off* Rick Sternbach, Rick Sternbach, Rick Sternbach!

Actually, now that I think of it, and look at the images as-rendered, I think I now understand why the Constellation class continued in second line/transport service during the twenty-fourth century. The Constellation is a much bigger ship up close than I had always thought she was. If they were reconfigured after their abilities as frontline vessels were outdated, they would likely make excellent freighters, transports, and so on...

I really should do some more work on this, but just couldnt find the time at the weekend.

It took me two weeks to finish watching my birthday present (die hard 4 on DVD), you dont get the same impact in ten minute intsallments.

Well, if the bays are big enough, they can certainly house shuttles. I'd have to go back and look at the text of the article, but I've always been a big fan of multi-purpose spaces and evolving the designs over time, and making the most out of a ship design. Play with it.
