Having the bridge topside or underside doesn't really matter; what matters is that having it sit everywhere near the hull of the ship is a huge vulnerability. When I see the TOS Enterprise, I think "bullseye on a dartboard".

Polticians and the advertising industry thank you for your credulity and for opening your wallet so eagerly. :D

The meaning of marketing neologisms is fluid. Who you gonna believe, tweeting executives or your lyin' eyes?
Quite the opposite of credulity. I hold people to their actual words. Nice red herring though! ;)

As time passes, we'll have actual evidence to base our conclusions on. For now, I'll take their word that this is a direct prequel that is set in the Prime universe.

It's not the hull's job to protect the bridge. That's what shields are for.

Any attack powerful enough to punch through a ship's shields will hit the bridge no matter where it is.

The main youtube trailer has already surpassed the previous DSC trailers in views. Still #1 trending

I don't see where any of the visual changes in Discovery are really that different than the changes we saw in the other Prime series. Hell these Klingons (can't find a link to the image as a page rather than it's own image) are still closer to what we've been seeing than the TOS Klingons were to the TMP ones. Hell, some of the shows' makeup changed pretty drastically from the first season to the last.
Same goes for the bridge, look how different Voyager's bridge is from the Enterprise-D or the D from the E.
We've seen some pretty drastic changes in the uniforms to, in less than 30 years went from early TOS, to TOS, TMP, and finally the rest of the movies.

Trailers are not assembled by directors, and rarely are final takes used. They work with what material is given to the trailer company to make the biggest hook for an audience.

Which is how we got the awful beastie boys and motorcycle jump trailer for Beyond. Hollywood is quite dysfunctional that way.

Did anyone cringe when Picard said "Lootenant" instead of "Leftenant"?

Picard is still an in-universe Frenchman with a UK accent. They should have just given him an English name and been done with it.

Same deal with Marina Sirtis awful quasi-greek mushmouth accent. She should have just used her regular speaking voice.

It's possible that notion departed with Fuller, but if it's still true I couldn't tell from the trailer!

It looks to me as if the Shenzhou accidentally desecrates a Klingon burial site (Kahless??) and this touches off the 4-year war, hence validating the notion that Discovery overlaps with Axanar's narrative.

We have engaged the Klingons (da da duuuuuum)

The spacesuit 1-on-1 fight appears to be an attempt to avoid all-out-war through personal combat.

Your point being? Picard not saying "lieutenant" the British way is another instance of Hollywood either plain failing at a non-American cultural point or else overriding the non-American who actually knows the culturally-appropriate way.

I pray Yeoh or someone on Discovery gets "Shenzhou" decent for speaking English.

Picard is French ;)

And why blame Hollywood or the producers? Patrick Stewart spoke the words. Should he not be one chastised for saying it wrong?

Also, this is a very bizarre discussion - arguing over the way the cast may or may not pronounce a word. This is a worse gripe than the complaint about the "acting" in teaser.

The optimistic outlook Star Trek strives to portray isn't just getting lost, it is being dragged into a deep, dark dungeon .

Because the production team determines the direction of the show. Actors usually conform to their requirements because they want to keep working.

Warp 10, baby!
