I watched the video I thought the new aliens looked like interesting characters. I like the new Starfleet Uniforms.. When it comes to the Klingons look being changed they look more like reptilian Xindi than the we saw Klingons in Tng or Ds9.

It is possible that the production is simply using a new design that makes the prosthetics more comfortable and/or easier to apply.

"Lieutenant" is an American English word; Shenzhou isn't. It's a proper noun and name of the first Chinese spacecraft.
Your point being? Picard not saying "lieutenant" the British way is another instance of Hollywood either plain failing at a non-American cultural point or else overriding the non-American who actually knows the culturally-appropriate way.

I pray Yeoh or someone on Discovery gets "Shenzhou" decent for speaking English.

British English or rather... English...:nyah:

Runs...
I'm fully aware of that.

But I chose the word "American" on purpose: The country of origin for TNG was the US. It was a word in the native language of the country origin correctly pronounced for the country of origin. I would have hoped that was clear without the need even to mention it.

There's no parallel here.

Ditto.

Wouldn't he be speaking French and therefore it's the universal translator's fault?

Just watched the trailer on my TV. Didn't notice exactly how chopshoped that audio was on my laptop before, but it is completely ridiculous...

It's not hard to see the acting and delivery is stiff. It's not like there's zero context there.

Also, I've seen plenty of Sonequa Martin. She's a mediocre actress at best, and in this trailer she's bad. She also looks too young.

So? I've seen Anthony Hopkins deliver lines badly. Look at Thor 2. But the guy's been brilliant in other stuff. As many have tried to explain to you, you simply CAN NOT conclude wether or not the acting is good from a trailer. You can claim you have these higher powers, but that doesn't make it true. ;)

And looks too young?? Really?? Shatner was only 4 years older than she is when he was Captain. She's a Lt. Commander. If you really wanna complain about the age, please be aware you sound petty when you do.

The universal translator is lazy. XD
Translator matrix from Doctor Who was worse ;)

This. The pulling apart of the trailer is starting to be very strange. It's like when the TFA trailer was dissected down to its pixel count in a major publication for details.

Not really feeling the Klingon look, but physically they fall within the margins of the variation we've seen, the armor could be a style particular to one house, just wish they had the Mivonks to show a mix of the varieties from TOS through TNG

No, I mean that the translator is lazy. It gives everyone an American accent. XD

...sorry. I often fail to be funny.
Well, the DW one gave everyone a British accent ;)

The impression I got was that it was part of a Klingon ritual, and not daily garb in the Empire.

Picard was facetious example, but a more appropriate one would be Reed in Ent, who was a toffeenosed Brit, who came up though the British naval system. he should have got the pronunciation 'right'.
