Concerning Spock's eyebrows... am I seeing things?

Early on his bangs were higher too, which either naturally emphasized some forehead wrinkles, or they lined those. He definitely gets a bit suave-er looking by later s1 with more gracefully swept brows. And no, I'm not a stalker, I just tend to overanalyze things.
It also made him look a bit less like the fifth Beatle -- I preferred the rougher edged look to Spock in his earliest interpretation, just as I preferred Shatner when he was leaner and had the shorter, military version of a pompadour crossed with a crew cut.

The haircuts (esp Kirk) really reflect the real-life change in men's hair from early to late '60s.

Just about EVerything of early-Star Trek is better than later Star Trek. Lighting. Writing. Haircuts. Quiet moments. Conflict among crew. Minor crew members. More serious.

Ok, not the FX. Maybe not the music.

I don't know, most of the original episode scores were written in the first season (yes, there were a few new ones in the second and third seasons, but they recycled A LOT of scores throughout the run of the series it seems.)

Yeah, this has been coming up on other threads -- the new music for S3 was more strings-oriented and melodic imho.

I don't know where you guys are getting the idea it was eye shadow. The dark area under Spock's eyebrows is from the razor stubble from Leonard Nimoy's eyebrows.

I just noticed yesterday while checking our blu-ray Season three eps that by Wink of an Eye, he was looking quite like the "modern" Spock. His ears and hair are evolved, so to speak.

Also, to the OP, Spocks have to shave their eyebrows, so part of the dark area might be dark hair follicles or stubble. There was a pointed discussion between Quinto and Nimoy about how that shakes out over time; Quinto has very thick hair and brows, and Nimoy told him that shaving them off frequently does tend to thin them out.

Then I guess he should be glad they're not doing a series!:techman:

Yeah...he was worried about shaving them. He likes his thick eyebrows. LOL.
Maybe they could have just covered his natural eyebrows with makeup and no one would have noticed. Like Cesar Romero's mustache when he played the Joker.

Oh, gawd, really? I did not know that. Hard to figure how that would work.

Behold:

Whoa, what kind of problems did César have there with his stash that he couldn't shave it off.

 Well, lucky for him The Joker wears white makeup.

Come to think of it, I know two other guys who look very strange without moustaches: Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott.

I was suprised when I found out he was on Mission Impossible. Never registered with me that it was Sam Elliot playing "Doug Robert".

On the eye shadow, keep in mind that most TV sets had lower resolution then, so it might not have been as clear that he was wearing it. It was probably done to make his eyes look more hooded or something.

Not really. There were 11 original scores in the first season (13 if you count the pilots), 12 in the second, and 9 in the third (plus the songs in "The Way to Eden" and the Brahms paraphrase in "Requiem for Methuselah"). So just over a third of the original scores were from the pilots and first season.

As I understand it, pure vanity.

The young Sam Elliott looked strikingly like Scott Bakula.
