Here's an illustration of why the most creative ads aren't the best. The Kia ad is cute and catchy, but why would I want to buy a car because rapping hamsters tell me to? The second ad actually does make me want to buy the product, despite myself. And I don't care about rap music at all, so that didn't make the difference either.

Yes I love that second commercial too. But to me it's more like Detroit's commercial, not the car's. It makes Detroit cool. I guess the first one is effective too because it gets the brand out there in people's mind. They might not be persuaded to buy it this very moment, but when they need it, they would.

The second one makes Detroit the brand and equates it to the car. It's striking because it's cheekily making a strength of a weakness. I'm not in the market for either car, not my style (especially not that Kia disaster, it's like driving a box!) so that's why it's striking that the Chrysler ad makes me contemplate a type of car I otherwise wouldn't.

Jack in the Box commercials are pretty awesome across the board. Sadly JITB isn't nationwide, and thus I didn't see any of the commercials until I moved out here.

Since I don't watch much t.v., I don't see many commercials. The Mayhem guy ones are pretty good. This is the only commercial that I can recall thinking "now that was cool."
