I think I've posted before on how much I love a good commercial. I really think they're underrated products. The level of emotional and psychological manipulation on display is often streets ahead of the programming they interrupt.

Another example of this sort of paychological "punning", from a new TV ad I saw for the first time earlier today:

Admittedly, part of the reason I like it is the Alison Moyet track (a specially commissioned for the advert acoustic version of her 80s Yazoo electronic version), but the gentle twist at the end is neatly played out within a very tight timeframe and shows a mastery of careful editing and timing that many TV programmes and movies lack due to their wider scope.

I think my favorite all-time commercial was the "Got Milk" commercial with the Trix Rabbit.

Most of these are just entertaining and don't give a negative impression of the product, but honestly most don't describe why you should buy there product over another. I really think that only food commercials ever really sway me and then not too much.
Of course there could be all kinds of subconscious stuff going on that I don't realize.
