Colony Season 3 Discussion

I did not see a thread for this, but Colony came back for Season 3 on May 2nd. Did anyone watch it?

I like that they are starting getting more deeper into what the Raps are about, and the possibility of a new enemy of the Raps.

In some ways it feels a little like Falling Skies especially with the new walking drone and a new alien race(?) that are enemies of the 'Hosts' that invaded Earth. Of course, Colony is a much better show than Falling Skies, IMO.

Snyder is still a weasel but a fun character none the less. Also nice to see Bran stepping it up also. Still wonder what happened to all those people in the LA block. Are they all dead now?

I saw the season 3 premiere. I thought it was really good. The show really needed the change of scenery. Life and the resistance in LA was interesting for awhile, but they lingered too long. It's like the producers don't know how to advance the plot along at an appropriate pace for a serialized series in today's TV landscape. The 2nd season felt like it slide backwards in someways, until the last third to half.

I like the new setting. It's visually different and dangerous in a whole new way. Definitely freshens up the series. However, the ultimate key to its success will be if the producers learn how to keep advancing the plot. We already got some tidbits about the factory being for defenses. Enemies of the Raps. And, a look at a mangled Rap. Hopefully there is more to come!

Great to see the characters back. Bran has really developed into a great character.

Damn it. I forgot this was coming back, seemed to remember it was on later in the month... nuts.

I hope it's on their network app so I can catch it tonight.

Q2

Edited to add: Just watched the 1st episode. I thought it was pretty good. Brought you up to speed and advanced the story nicely. The other aliens were a nice addition and I thought the FX were a bit better than last year.

I'm still intrigued. In my opinion they haven't nose dive into crazy land the way Falling Skies did. Man did that show go off the rails.

We just saw it because I was wondering if it came back.

Were there any ads for this show's new season?????

It seems like they are subtly killing it off...if this new season is taking place in the forest...seems like they are saving a few bucks.

Also did they kill off just about everyone else that would be familiar to prevent them from appearing in future episodes?

Now is this the cabin that Carl Weathers talked about way back when? Or is he still out there somewhere?

The Raps enemies...are those other aliens? Or is it vague enough that they COULD be humans?

Second episode was pretty good. So the Factory on the moon got destroyed, i wonder how many humans died, thousands? millions?

Agreed. The second episode was good. You can sense the palpable uncertainty and not being in control for both the Bowman family and the woman and her son as they count on others to be transported to safer locations. I'm not sure that it ended well for the woman/son. Broussard's story makes sense for the character given his past. I liked that angle

We also got a number of revelations. That the factory was building a defense grid to protect the Raps in the war with whoever they're fighting. The Raps also seem to be using the colonies to develop biological weapons.

I wonder what revelations we'll find in the resistance camp next week? I noticed they seemed to keep the resistance leader's identify a secret. Is it someone we'll recognized, like Will's former partner? Will we finally see a Rap?

Did they announce that this will be the last season? I really hate when a show this (pretty) good ends on a cliffhanger...

I missed the first few minutes...the Factory blew up?.?? Did we ever really know what happened there? 1st season we saw a chat ter head up there...did we ever find out more?

I was wondering about Broussard...glad he is back .

The Rendition isn't as impressive as they seemed to hype it earlier. How did they empty the block again ? I thought (in my imagination) that they wipex out the whole block like by a bomb or something. So they just rounded up everyone they could find, while many were able to Evade capture??

Kinda makes the lower budget seem more apparent

We found out last week that there are a second group at war with the Rap.

We saw their ships fighting.

The humans, high level collaborators were talking about how the enemy was not expected to have found earth for a few more decades.

This week the second group of aliens blew up the factory on the moon.

we saw phoptgraphs of the hole in the ground where the factory used to be.

Talk of a half constructed defense screen made me think of Return of the Jedi.

So, the Rap, Click whatever is saying that humans are allies. I'm guessing without the gauntlet it was cutoff from the rest of the Raps and might not have known the change in status? Speculation follows.

I'll guess that the Raps came here to protect humans but that somehow humans messed that up. Maybe this Rap was the initial ambassador. We took it prisoner and interrogated it. The other Raps learned of our unruly behavior and changed their plans to what we've seen as a means of keeping us in control while they're trying to save us.

In that scenario, it's humans to blame for how the Raps are treating us. I have a feeling the resistance camp leader knows this and that's why he's so afraid of having others hear what it has to say and wants it shut down! He may well have been a part of the initial interrogation team before the occupation. That team would've become a resistance group after the occupation and that's how they obtained the Rap.

I don't know if the biological weapon would be for use on the humans or on the other aliens. Perhaps it's supposed to be safe on humans and only kill the other aliens?

I think the raps allied themselves with some (shady?) humans and when the Raps took over, that human group took power and did the raps bidding for them. We see that humans are running the world government for the Raps, so maybe they did ally themselves with humans, just the wrong ones and it was not publicly known.

That's another good hypothesis.

Although, I'm not sure if it totally explains why the resistance camp leader seems so secretive about what it is saying. But, maybe he's just naturally that way?

We learned about McGregor's history and how he likes to control the narrative. Apparently the reason he wants to shut up the Rap by destroying it is because it's changing his narrative. As the other characters said, that's stupid.

We got clarification that it was the Rap's enemy we saw earlier that was biological. Apparent confirmation that the Raps approached human leaders and said that in exchange for a labor supply, they'd build defenses that would protect Earth.

No real indication whether the Raps story is true. Perhaps the other aliens are trying to save us from being enslaved to the Raps? No way to know for sure at this point.

Meanwhile, Broussard and the woman were apparently sent by Bus Guy to a decoy campl My guess is that he talked to McGregor who told him to send them there instead of the real camp. Probably a good thing because it seems like the Occupation is on to them! Their journey has been enjoyable to watch.

Guessing that Broussard and woman will find the real camp (we know it's not too far away thanks to Snyder's shoe) and somehow resolve the Bowman's situation.

I'm hoping that the story moves on quickly with the Bowman's, Snyder, Brousard, and woman having access to the Rap, learning information, and making plans. I don't want the story to be stuck too long in a situation where we've got all the pieces in the same general location but they're not coming together thanks to one character. That would get tedious quickly!

Generally enjoying how this season is progressing!

Decoy camp???? No, it was McGregor's camp...Broussard just came a few days later or so. From the previews it looks like the Occupation came (thanks to Snyder's device). Exactly WHAT happened we will see in the next couple of weeks. Don't forget - a lot of people involved with Lost are involved...they just aren't using the flashback spunds to let us know.. . ;)

Yeah, McGregor has bought into his own "perfection" (a conspiracy crackpot proved right)... The Bowmans should have taken the advice and helped craft a better narrative for McGregor to work with)

Snyder was actually right...though of course for duplicitous reasons. They should have listened to him and packed up and left ASAP

^^ Well, we'll see. I think the bus guy gave the coordinates too easily despite his initial resistance. And, McGregor wasn't going to be in the mood for welcoming any more guests to his camp right now! But, perhaps we'll find out in a flashback.

I don't think McGregor is the type who would've been open to a narrative that was not his. Just not going to happen. He's too far gone. So far that he'd be willing to destroy an invaluable resource just to keep his narrative intact.

I liked how Snyder was correct. Figuring that out fits in exactly with his type of survival instinct. Very true to the character. Hopefully he can provide more of that along with some more intel from IGA.
