Cobra Kai - The Karate Kid Saga Continues

I don't see why they would. That would alienate the millions of people who have embraced Cobra Kai and made it a huge success. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in Chan during the last episode, to create a bridge between the show and the movie.

Word is that, while they are two completely different teams, ie Sony Pictures Television for Cobra Kai, Sony Pictures for the movie, the Cobra Kai team is helping out where they can.

At least according to Dark Horizons.
Dark Horizons said:
An update from Gizmodo indicates that while the team behind Netflix’s smash hit “Cobra Kai” aren’t directly involved in the project, they have been involved in the process.

Sony Pictures Television produces “Cobra Kai” for Netflix, whilst Sony Pictures is producing the film. The site indicates the show’s creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg know the film is happening and have offered assistance when asked.

So, that leads me to believe that the movie team knows how the series ends, and that the movie will possibly take off from where it ends. It also seems they're going all-in making sure nothing is being contradicted, either from the Miyagiverse or Jackie Chan's reboot.

First pic of the final season...

Indeed. I'd get the whole box set, if it was available. They need to release Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on BRD while they're at it!

Splitting 15 episodes into 3 parts across 2 years?!!! This is ludicrous.

I truly miss the days where a season of a show was 1 in a year, and more episodes.

Seems to be Netflix's new model. Split seasons, as they did with Stranger Things. Yes, it's split over 2 years but really it's within the time span of 1 year. So I'm not too bothered. Having the final part release in 2025 will probably lead nicely into the movie.

Season 4 or 5 was dropped New Year’s Day one year, wasn’t it? So it could be they’re doing that with the last five?

Well, we always knew it was going to end eventually, and we knew long ago they'd announced Season 6 would be their last. This is just Netflix stretching it out as long as they can.

Which is why they should have never cancelled it. Instead of 15 episodes over two years, how about 30 episodes over 3 years.

That would mean paying the cast higher rates after the first 10 episodes (assuming you mean 10 episodes per season and one season per year). This way they get the benefit of essentially three short seasons at the lower price per episode.

I mean it will help stem the flow of people seriously thinking of cancelling their sub when Cobra Kai ends. And will help get new subscribers brought in/back for season 6 from July to stay on until the season ends.

Because no one ever gets a subscription for just a month to watch whatever series is returning, turns subscription off until its new season returns, turns back on, and turns off once season is done...

It's three opportunities for you to forget to cancel. It's also three opportunities to present you with new content designed to make you stay.
